808 State. 90
Pacific State was officially released as a single Nov 89, but this was huge as a white label doing the rounds 30 years ago.
Toby
Nice choice - Haven't heard the White label but do have the original 12 " single.Just one of those essential 12 " singles of the Manchester Hacienda - UK in early Acid House transisition.Another classic for me of those Times was The Paul Oakenfold 12 " Remix of The Happy Mondays Hallelujah ...Still sounds fresh and that piano sound...... WOW !

ZZ Top - XXX.
Maybe not one of their better known albums, but The Reverend Gibbons is certainly on top of those pinch harmonics ............. ![]()

Ringo Starr - Ringo, continuing on my Beatles themed choices today.Probably Mr Starkey's finest solo hour ![]()

Jon Hopkins - Singularity.
Jon Hopkins has been behind a couple of my favourite albums of the past few years (Diamond Mine with King Creosote and Immunity). Singularity was released in May , has been on fairly heavy rotation here ever since.

The Skatalites - The Best Of.
Preparing dinner to the relaxing sound of some proper old skool ska, .......................and it doesn't get any better than this fab double
album from Trojan. ![]()

George Harrison - Brainwashed.
Released 2001 - Great album from Soul's best duets. ????
Playing on Vinyl on Virgin Records 1983 - Nice Electronica from Tangerine Dream - No Mans Land even makes use of a sitar - no less !

The Barr Brothers - The Barr Brothers.
Been Tidalising this over the last few days, following a shout from Stevee_S , now purchased, ripped and streaming.
Wow, this album has got everything ............. including a mix of American folk, delta blues and hypnotic West African polyrhythms
.................an absolute belter of an album, and I can only concur with Steve's recommendation.
And I've still got their other two albums to get through yet ............... doesn't get much betterer. ![]()

Badfinger - The Best Of
Son of the more famous Terry, on this CD Gyan plays acoustic guitar and a bit of ukulele. Bought it at a show of his and his Dad's last night...

I find this a superb version of Beethoven's violin concerto. It's a super recording and it's played with so much emotion. Wonderful.

Van Morrison - Avalon Sunset.
Back to listening to one of the many Van CD's purchased over the last couple of weeks.
What a great album, and why didn't anyone twist my arm years ago, to sit down and listen to Van's music?
Dave,
I recall hearing Avalon Sunset shortly after it was released. It was being played on continuous repeat when I'd taken my first LP12 into a Linn Clinic (probably spelt with a K) in Radfords on Gloucester Road in Bristol. Once the work was finished on my turntable he played it again on mine. I bought a copy on the way home. It's a glorious album - and I don't particularly like his music!
Barbra Lica - I'm Still Learning

Barbra is so cheerful and this is so uplifting, it is bound to put a smile on your face.![]()
I never bought this at the time.

Albums masterered before the loudness wars are such a pleasure.

Great stuff, one of my favourite 'late' 'Tops albums. ![]()

The Barr Brothers - Queens Of The Breakers.
Listening now to the second of three Barr Brothers albums, recommended by Stevee_S.
This one is even better than their debut, which I had on earlier .......... hypnotic layers of sound .................. Belter!
Great shout, Steve.

Little Village - Little Village, shame we only got the one album.

2004 - Double album and first pressings on Mute records...
Abattoir Blues / The Lyre Of Orpheus

Joni Mitchell, Night Ride Home, Original U.K. vinyl
Probably my favourite of the later Joni albums, lyrically and musically very strong, some seriously emotional songs and a great Yeats setting.

I too had a listen to this following Stevee S's recommendation, and you have just reminded me to listen again. This is really growing on me. A trip to the river me thinks.
The listening evening started with a nice one with the ND555 being the star...

This is also a quite nice album which I digested afterwards....

New kids on the block, but very interesting kids...

Now in the land of Keith. I like this album more than his last outing with the trio which was released this year....
