On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

The Hoax - A Tribute To BB King
I finally managed to track down a copy of this album, which dropped on the doormat this morning, this is really very fine British blues paying homage and great respect to the wonderful BB KIng.
David Gilmour - Rattle That Lock (2015). Hi res download, sounds good.
Finally, with the thunderstorms having moved on, an early evening session with some vinyl on the TT. First up, for no better reason that it was the first LP that came to hand, Santana's Inner Secrets. A thin '70s CBS press, but sounding pretty funky with a disco groove, as was the order of the day...
Next up, inspired by the recent documentary re-run on BBC4, Mick Jagger's solo album from the mid '80s - She's the Boss. I remember at Uni we had the VHS cassette of Running Out Of Luck - a kind of full length movie music video which incorporated all of the tracks from this album - and it stayed for quite some time in the video recorder. IIRC it starred not only our very own Mick but also the daughter of Tommy Chong (of Cheech & Chong fame). Heaven knows whether anyone has dared to reissue it in more recent years (probably not terribly PC - or perhaps just not very good!) but I may just see if it's out there for old times sake. Anyway, a great sounding LP, cut by Bob Ludwig at Masterdisk. My copy managed to survive reasonably intact;
Last album of the evening, especially for my sister who is over from Canada - Yazoo, Upstairs At Eric's. A superb example of early '80's synth pop. Another survivor from my youth, sounding pretty damn awesome, even if it was likely recorded digitally...

The Barr Brothers - Queens Of The Breakers.
Listening now to the second of three Barr Brothers albums, recommended by Stevee_S.
This one is even better than their debut, which I had on earlier .......... hypnotic layers of sound .................. Belter!
Great shout, Steve.
Totally agree. I bought this a few months ago and I can't stop playing it.
Yes, I have tee'd this up also in Tidal, having just bought the other Barr Brothers album from the River. This could get expensive!
If you do like "Queens Of The Breakers", and decide to visit The River, don't overlook their second album, currently available for the princely sum of 78 pence ................. go on, push the boat out Nigel.
The Barr Brothers - Sleeping Operator.
Stop it Dave! I have just bought Barr Brothers debut album and Queens Of The Breakers.
You are a bad man. OK, OK I'm just going to have to listen to Sleeping Operator now! Thank goodness they don't have any other albums out at the moment!
Update:
Didn't bother to listening to Sleeping Operator. For 78p (admittedly plus a bit of postage from the US), why procrastinate. I am now the proud owner of all the Barr Brothers albums!
They sound even better live. ????
Flippin' heck! Having bought all 3 of their albums, I now need to go and buy tickets! I simply can't afford to come on here anymore!
Steve Winwood

Just been on the tube, very interesting, like Nigel will have to put off the ND555 for a few more weeks to buy these guys, cd,s????
Shakatak - Drivin' Hard (streaming).
2004 - CD...
Boz Scaggs - Memphis (2013). On Boz Scaggs latest, Out of the Blues, he's doing a good job on the blues tunes. On this earlier release he's having a go at Memphis soul. Sounds pretty good to me.
Dan Arborise - Of Tide & Trail
Sometimes you think, Oh I can't be a*sed with posting this, I'm just gonna play it and enjoy it. But not this time, people have got to know how good this music is.
For anyone who likes John Martyn or Nick Drake and hasn't yet heard Dan.....
Peggy Lee - Pass Me By, the last one for tonight.
Released 2007 - prompted by Tobyjug decided to get mine out????
'
Good, swinging music!
A lovely bit of Duke (with Hawk) for a warm Wednesday morning, on a very fine soundinging Impulse! CD from 2007.
Playing on Compact Disc on Naxos - Very nice Mozart piano Concertos
Time for some Frappage.
Released last month, the 'deluxe' version of last year's Silver Eye has a second CD of remixes, which is what I'm playing now. Unusually, many of the remizes are very good, iespecially "Ocean" (featuring Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan on vocals) and the Whatever/Whatever remix of "Anymore" by Justin Strauss and Bryan Mette.
John Coltrane - Ballads. Recently started listening to him because of the mentions here. I just got a new copy of this on vinyl and giving it a spin, sounds nice this morning.
Eric Alexander & Lin Halliday - Stablemates
- Eric Alexander - Tenor sax
- Lin Halliday - Tenor sax
- Jodie Christian - Piano
- Dan Shapera - Bass
- Wilbur Campbell - Drums
