A little more from the rather wonderful Kikagku Moyo, great modern Psychedelic stuff.

Vinyl released 1971 - panned on released by the “critics” but there a lot of good things on this album. ????

Joni Mitchell - Hejira - WAV CD rip.
Following Dylan and Cohen with (in my view) their only peer as a poet of that era, Joni, and my favourite of her albums. Jazzy rhythms, great bass playing from Jaco Pastorius underpinning a band of serious guns for hire. Joni at her musical and lyricist peak, a couple of pages ago Clive quoted Amelia, a great simple 2 line lyric that described a scene. She keeps her earlier ability to describe relationships and life-moments, and enhances her almost haiku like ability to describe a scene in a few words. “White flags of winter chimneys waving truce against the moon, in the mirrors of a modern bank from the windows of my hotel room”, I’ve been there on business trips many times, this is a great album.

Taste - The Best Of, an excellent overview of a great band.
I wonder what happened to their guitarist, he seemed pretty tasty (sic). ????
1990 Cambridge Folk Festival is one of my greatest musical memories, Rory played an acoustic set and a band set, Bert Jansch played, guitar doesn’t get any better,
Eoin, how long until Cropredy?

Music starts Thursday next week, I’ll drop down to stay in the village on Wednesday. Brian Wilson, Al Stewart, Levellers, Oysterband, and lots of new musicians, really looking forward to it. Especially the Bastard Sons of Val Doonican, I’ve heard great things about them.

Rolling Stones - Goats Head Soup (1973) on vinyl. Picked this up used today, haggled a good price on it. Sounds great.

well ,we stayed at the pub a couple of months ago ,and lets just say the accommodation was "adequate", however the cider and the breakfast were top notch
Enjoy the festival

There is a couple in the village who are empty nesters and let their daughters’ rooms to me and a couple of my friends. So I get to have a comfy bed and a nice bathroom, a far cry from my first Cropredy in 1984 when I hitched in, crashed in a field overnight before the festival, then crashed on the floor of a friend’s parents’ camper van. Just looking at the weather forecast and thinking light red burgundies are the right wines, Savigny or maybe Chambolle, too warm for claret or heavier villages.

The Clash - Give ‘Em Enough Rope - Original U.K. vinyl (bought in Finchley Woolworths I think)
Listening now, musically more hard rock than punk, like the Stranglers the Clash were good musicians. Angry socially committed lyrics, the odd introspective song, very fine punk or rock album.

Unfortunately no, I'm away wednesday until late Saturday. I had hoped they would have the usual warm up night at The Mill, but not this year, thats was always a good night, limited crowd & close up with mix & chats before during & after.

Such evocative lyrics. She paints pictures with words and melody.
A beautiful album indeed. One of my all time favourites.
Clive, you might like this...
Thanks Denis, I'd never seen this before. There are some lovely illustrated songs on his page.

Mono vinyl. Considering this was only their third album, the quality of songwriting (J and P wrote every single track, remember) is quite incredible. A huge leap on from the second album:

Big Country - The Crossing.
A wee bit of Jock rock to start the day .................. what a debut album, what a great Celtic sound ............... sounding just as fresh
today as it did back then ............... sadly missed.
