Gregson and Collister - Home and Away, Original vinyl
Great folk duo, recorded live at folk clubs, on some pretty low-fi gear. Well chosen covers and excellent originals, Clive is a very fine guitarist, his guitar drives fine pacing, Chris is a stunning vocalist with immense range and the abilty to interpret any song, and they harmonise beautifully. A sticker tells me I paid Festival Records £5.99, and Google tells me they played Cambridge Folk Festival in 1987,the year of issue, so a favourite and regular listen for 30 years.
Great album, saw them Iive many years ago in Port Talbot or some other innocuous venue.
I suspect EOINK and I have significant overlaps in our record collections. I have seen Clive a Gregson and Christine Collister numerous times individually, but sadly never when they were together. I have all the albums, but this one, recorded on a Teac cassette Portastudio remains their best IMHO. I would also recommend Christine's first live album, called simply 'Live'.
Kathleen Battle & Wynton Marsalis - Baroque Duets
Very nice baroque music.
Ended last evening with this great album from Oscar...
Through the transcription again another interesting piece of music...
Still very happy that this one came out...
Eric Alexander - Two of a kind
Nice post bop jazz by Eric Alexander.
- Eric Alexander - tenor xax
- Cecil Payne - baritone sax
- David Hazeltine - piano
- John Webber - bass
- Joe Farnsworth - drums
Nice trio jazz
Straight forward, but very nice...
Some nice live Mike Oldfield - Haven't given this a spin for yonks and enjoying - Playing on double Vinyl on Virgin Records 1979
Polo-necked cool, on double CD. "On A Clear Day" is a monster:
The Barr Brothers - Sleeping Operator.
Playing the third of the Barr Brothers albums, received a couple of days back.
Beautiful multi-layered ambient sounds, and yet another great recommendation from the Music Room .......... I love this thread!
Back to the NDS and (for now) non-DR NAP500. Mustn't grumble when the music is as good as this. According to the sleeve I'm not the only one to appreciate it.
On CD. For no good reason, other than it was the first thing that popped into my head:
Playing on Vinyl on IRS Records 1985 - A dark early dose of REM.They nearly broke up on the recording of it in London as they where all getting flu.Travelling on the Tube to the Studio for hours as they where staying a long way away. Also it was deepest winter.Quite a few REM classics on it "Kouhotek " is magnificent.Fables of the Reconstuction - Reconstruction of the fables is a great album name it sort of goes round full circle.
Bryan Ferry - Boys and Girls.
Sun's out, so what better to chill out with than this one from the King of Smooth ................. top album, great production too.
A strange combination with Sitar - but sounding nice...
Very nice relaxing music
A rougher form of guitar...
Back to subtile guitar sounds...
2016 - Tidal...
Culture - Culture on the Front Line.
Sun's still here, so this roots reggae collection is definitely hitting the spot.
2 CD's covering Culture's first three albums, plus the previously hard to find "Black Rose" one, and at less than seven squid on
The River, what's not to like?
2013 - Tidal...
After his contributions to the Cobham - Duke live sessions, something a little more subdued.
1976 - Vinyl - UK first pressing...
