On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
CD. Bruch - Werke Für Klarinette und Viola - Gérard Caussé (Viola) - Paul Meyer (Clarinet)
Wilhelm Friedemann Bach (1710-1784): Maude Gratton, Harpsichord & Clavichord
Fantaisies | Sonates | Fugues | Polonaises
A Tree With Roots - Fairport Convention And The Songs Of Bob Dylan
Friedrich Gulda - Gulda plays Bach
In the car driving west. The Flying Neutrinos, I'd Rather Be In New Orleans. Cool, lazy jazz.
Back to the grind:

Hans Minnaar & Jan Willem de Vriend - Beethoven: Piano concertos
Trumpet - Eric Vloiemans
Piano - John Taylor
Bass - Marc Johnson
Drums - Joey Barron
About the only thing I've fancied playing out of a couple of dozen CD rips from the last few days.
Takes me back to my childhood, some songs are quite poignant.
Every time I hear some of these songs I realise what a fantastic voice Karen Carpenter had, and the majority of the songs just sound sumptuous. Even if some are a little dated, the arrangements can send shivers down your spine.
On CD. Can't beat a bit of Duke.
Would calm down those wild Irish boys.
More digital Ducal splendour:
This for me is the best of Boz's trilogy wonderful version of the Huey Piano Lewis song "high blood pressure".

Murray Perahia - Chopin
Now Playing..........
Charles Lloyd and the Marvels + Lucinda Williams - Vanished Gardens
Charles Lloyd (saxophone, flute), Bill Frisell (guitar), Greg Leitz (steel guitar), Reuben Rogers (bass), Eric Harland (drums) + Lucinda Williams (vocals).
Streaming on NAS........ Opening Tuesday morning with Charles and the fabulous Marvels. The opening track 'Defiant is just magnificent with Charles's Sax and the interplay between Bill's and Greg's guitars. If you have not given this album a listen then set aside the time, you will not be disappointed!
Deserving a thorough listen through right now.
Super-sounding (on a 1997 Verve CD) small-group Ellington. Very relaxing stuff for a hot Tuesday afternoon:
The Orb - Metallic Spheres.
Ambient goodness from "Dr" Alex Paterson and Youth ................. plus some noodling from some chap or other called Gilmour.
Sinatra at the Sands, on MFSL vinyl which I treated myself to before moving to Beijing last year. Not cheap, but very, very good.
Family is back in Europe for summer break, the dog has just gone to local kennels for a couple of days as I am traveling later in the week, so it is just me, Frank, Count Basie, Quincy Jones and a few others (what a band) this evening.
The Beat - Here We Go Love!
Sounding as good as ever, some bouncy, happy, ska choons from Dave Wakeling and chums.
