On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
1969 - Vinyl - UK First pressing....
Suitably soothing for this sunny afternoon.

The Beat - Here We Go Love!
Sounding as good as ever, some bouncy, happy, ska choons from Dave Wakeling and chums.

Victory - The Broken Instrument
Streaming on TIDAL....... Placed this in the TIDAL queue a short time ago and getting around to taking Victory out for a spin....... The opening track certainly grabs your attention, great vocals, backup singers and band, sounding mighty sweet!
Wow. Thanks for flagging this up, a magnificent opener followed by some real neat stuff.
It's fun to trawl through this thread occasionally and try out something different, but if all there is is a picture of an album and nothing to recommend it it’s probably going to be passed by in favour of one that has a few well chosen words that make me want to try it. It’s in the thread title - What..., and Why...? Might be worth sticking with that. ????
Gaz Coombes - World's Strongest Man.
Trawling through some recent purchases, this album is something of a slow burner, which just seems to improve each time I play it.
It's there on Tidal, so do treat yourself to a listen, and who knows, it may well insinuate itself into your consciousness too.

Sky - Anthology
Just in the mood for a bit of posh-rock fronted up by John Williams. Sky surprised me when their debut was released I wasn't expecting to enjoy it, this is a good 2 disc two and a half hour collection of their earlier albums.

Steely Dan - Alive in America
The 'Dan never did much by way of live albums, they eventually set that right with this one, playing eleven fine tracks that were beautifully recorded and taken from some of their best nights and days of the 1993-'94 American tour .

Muddy Waters - the best of.
Yes, I've got all the songs on here on various others of Muddy's albums, but this was one of the first albums I ever bought, whilst still
a schoolboy, and yes, It really is, for once, "the best of", and is highly recommended for anyone wanting to listen to Muddy for the
first time.
Vinyl
Why? Heard some REM on the radio and realised I hadn't played any for ages.

The wonderful Ian Dury and the Blockheads “very good indeed”.

I suspect I almost over-dosed on this on its release and when I saw Nerina perform it but having had a bit of rest I find it still holds its magic.
It must be a couple of weeks since I last played (multiple repeats) this gem, but had a desire for some modal jazz as evidenced by the piece 'Untiled Original 11386', which is definitive of the form.
Wes Montgomery - Full House
Great concert by Wes Montgomery and his quintet. Also very fine solos by Wynton Kelly and Johnny Griffin.
- Bass – Paul Chambers (3)
- Drums – Jimmy Cobb
- Guitar – Wes Montgomery
- Piano – Wynton Kelly
- Tenor Saxophone – Johnny Griffin
Deep Purple
Purpendicular - CD Rip

Now for some sultry Norah J.
Muddy Waters - Hard Again.
Muddy's "Live in the Studio" comeback album, and he's on top form, .................. ably supported by harp player James Cotton and
guitarist Johnny Winter, who produced the album .......................... classic album, and an absolute belter!
Jimi Hendrix - South Saturn Delta, featuring early and alternative versions of many classics.
