On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Now playing............

Streaming on NAS........ a recent purchase, ripped to NAS and now taking it out for a spin, an album from 31 years ago and Emmylou is sounding very angelic!
Now Playing............
Emmylou Harris - Blue Bird
Streaming on NAS........... recent purchase and taking out for first spin, Emmylou across time has one sweet voice........
Now Playing.........
Van Morrison - Hymns To The Silence (disc one)
Streaming on NAS.......... Arrived in the mail, ripped and now streaming, and Van is sounding mighty fine!
Now Playing.................
Van Morrison - Days Like This
Streaming on NAS........ The second album that arrived in the mail, ripped and now streaming, and Van continues to sound mighty fine!
Eponymous debut album from Batida, a Dutch latin-fusion group that I saw live in Amsterdam in 1984. I've played it to death in the intervening 30+ years, yet I always come back to it.
Now playing...............
Bill Frisell - Good Dog Happy Man
Bill Frisell (electric & acoustic guitars, loops and music boxes), Wayne Horvitz (organ and piano), Greg Leisz (pedal steel, dobro, lap steel, Weissenborn national steel guitar and mandolin), Viktor Krauss (bass), Jim Keitner (drums and percussion) and Ry Cooder (electric guitar ripley guitar , special guest on Shenandoah).
Streaming on NAS......... recent purchase, ripped and now streaming. I enjoy Bill Frisell quite a bit and enjoy his ability to cross all genre of music and interact and play with anyone/everyone. A bonus finding him & Greg Leisz playing together on this album. They appear on both of the 'Charles Lloyd and the Marvels' albums, 'I Long To See You' and 'Vanished Gardens' and just love their interplay with the guitars on the opening track 'Defiant' on 'Vanished Gardens.' ......and of course its great to hear Ry Cooder join in with his guitars on Shenandoah.

Great album. Shenandoah is one of my favourite tunes and this is a terrific version.
Fascinating article about Bill Evans and Nardis - here - which prompted me to play a few versions, like the one on this session:
For me a recent discovery...
British Tour '76. U.S. Tour '74.
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band captured at their best.
They always were so much better live than the studio, and the first of the above albums is from the UK tour where I was lucky
enough to see them play .................. Vambo Rules!
Long ago that I listened to this

David Bowie, Hunky Dory, 2016 remaster vinyl
One of Bowie’s masterpieces, some of his greatest songs, with great variation of style, Bowie and Ronson gelling wonderfully.
Perhaps my favourite Bowie album, along with Ziggy. Think I'll give it a play later today.

Possibly my fave Todd album (and I've heard them all) as he is a particular musical hero of mine. Todd pulled back slightly from the brink after "A Wizard a True Star" and this album gives us the best elements from "A Wizard......" and it's predecessor the sublime "Something/Anything". From the pop perfection of "A dream goes on forever" to the psychedelia of "Number 1 lowest common denominator" there's something for everyone. The original vinyl is superior to later CD re-issues though and benefits from being a double album so lacks the over compressed aspects of some of his later albums such as "Initiation" where 67 minutes of music was squeezed onto a single vinyl album. Anyone who is not familiar with his ouvre should investigate "The Complete Bearsville Albums Collection" of his first 11 albums in one box set - an absolute bargain.
Playing on Cassette on TDK D C60 - Really good third Steve Hillage solo album from 1977 - Light in the Sky is a favourite on the album. Going to see the Orb next month and Steve's System 7 are the support band.
The The - Infected.
These guys were mentioned on here the other day, so, why not?
Just a cracking album from the 80's.
On CD:-
Boz Scaggs - Out of the Blues

Hi Dave, thanks for the reminder ,I've been meaning to order Live at the BBC for a while so I've just ordered from the River
Bob Dylan - "Time Out Of Mind" (1997) my favorite Dylan disc
10cc - The Hits, although there is a misleading photo on the cover this is essentially an early cd version of the first two albums in excellent SQ.Brilliant band.
