What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Yet another one! Getting them in while I can!
Shelby Lynne - Just A Little Lovin'
Shelby sounding sensational.
Dusty would be proud.

The Dan's SHM's have a very slightly lower dynamic range compared to original CD's and yet these Japanese master releases add a certain something to the mix. Personally I still prefer the original early CDs but it's a very close call.
Hi Steve
Funny thing is, I've never actually heard Steely Dan on CD before - everything I've got (apart from a live album) is on vinyl and thus I have never bothered to listen to them on CD, so I've no idea what's good or not.
Someone came I know just came back from years spent living in Japan; he returned with a thousand discs, including many SHMs and SACDs. Circumstances meant he lacked anywhere to store them so I took a few hundred off his hands while he sorts himself out. He said play them as much as you like, so I am going through the ones I like (which to be fair, there aren't too many of. His collection seems to consist mnostly of rather sterline Japanese jazz-rock).
Hi Kev,
I'm sure the original vinyls are the best way to hear them but having not heard any of those in the last forty odd years I can't be certain.

Daryl Hall & John Oates
I do like a bit of Hall & Oates from time to time and this was a bit of a cracker, nicely breathed on by MoFi in 2013.
I can recommend this as a fine bit of H&O

Thanks Steve, that's one I need to add.

A worthwhile read...
Katy and The Gremlin by Denny Dias - http://steelydan.com/dennys3.html
Enjoyed this massively in the afternoon poolside listen8ng...
Oscar Peterson - Night Train.
After Sand I moved to someth8ng popular, but great...
Steely Dan - Aja (1977).
With all the Steely Dan talk, I put Aja on the turntable. I bought this vinyl 41 years ago and just gave it a good cleaning. It sounds very good. I also have the Japanese SHM CD which sounds pretty near as good.
Daryl Hall - Sacred Songs
If you're looking for an album to surprise you, given the artists previous releases, then THIS IS IT. A masterpiece to my EARS.

Daniel Lanois Acadie, his debut solo album from 89. Wonderful album from around the time he was producing for the Nevilles, Emmylou, U2 and Dylan, he’s certainly got a distinctive sound which you can also hear coming through on their albums, de riguer input from Eno too of course. CD WAV rip, hard to get this now though for some reason but I bought it when it was released.
REM - New Adventures in Hi-Fi (1996). Found this the other day in a charity shop. Ripped and streaming, love the first song.
Abba: Super Trouper: original 1980 pressing: great music but annoying eccentric pressing.
Abba: Voulez Vous, Back to Black re-pressing; somewhat anaemic, thus depriving the music of its verve. Pity.
Not a good session...
Kacey Musgraves-Golden Hour
Now Playing........
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Couldn't Stand The Weather
Streaming on NAS...... A mention from DAV301of Stevie Ray earlier today had me want to put on one of his albums and take it out for a spin! .....after a day like today at work, that would be a "turn up the volume" for a listen and to clear out the head!
long time no play. still just as good
enjoy

I decided to have a classic album day in the office so these last 4 albums are the chosen ones.
Someone else posted this recently, which made me realise I hadn't listened to it in a good while. Autumn Leaves is just floating along effortlessly evoking a very relaxed feel, subsequently energised by Love for Sale.
Perfect Compact Disc to get the Thursday working day in the office - What can you say about it ....probably one word sums it up ....Classic
