What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Katia Labeque & Triple Sun - Moondog
if you’re looking for something different...this is Katia and a group interpreting various old Moondog songs, mostly in a radically different fashion e.g. there’s a definite Post Rock influence in there. Released last week on DG.
They performed most of it live a year ago with dancers, much of which is on YouTube, and here’s a couple of tracks.
Paul Weller - Stanley Road, following on after playing Wild Wood earlier in the week.
Playing on Compact Disc on Naxos - Enchanting Bach Sonatas
Hilary Hahn - Bach: Violin and voice
Beautiful Bach music
1989 - vinyl - UK pressing...
Chet Baker Quartet - In Your Own Sweet Way - Live in Cologne 1983 Original vinyl Circle Records.

A great English singer songwriter at his very best. What always surprises me when I listen to Wild Wood and Stanley Rd is how good his voice is really quite soulful with a very nice tone and speaking of singers Carleen Anderson's backing vocal on Wings of Speed is exceptionally beautiful.

Oscar Peterson - Night Train.
A favourite of mine but quite badly recorded and mastered difficult to find a decent pressing I have very early stereo and mono pressings as well as the Back to Black reissue one day I might just have to cough up for the ORG 45rpm copy to see if it is any good.
Finished up last night listening to this:
Quite an intoxicating mix, original album followed by the dub version. On the River at the moment for around a fiver, I paid a bit more than that.
Just getting to some of the albums purchased from recommendations here.

Agreed Bob , both these albums helped me appreciate Weller's vocal talents much better. So removed from the snarl of the Jam years.
Now Playing............
Stevie Wonder - Songs In The Key Of Life
Streaming on NAS.......... A mention from EWEMON of Stevie had me break out this album with two CD's of Stevie Wonder's music. Starting with 'Love's In Need of Love Today' is a perfect song to start off this Thursday morning! ........ Stevie is sounding mighty sweet........
Playing on Compact Disc on Decca Records - Lovely Best of Ludovico Einadi piano pieces
John Lennon - Mind Games, playing the 2002 remix that is an improvement on the muddy original.Still think that the female backing vocals are out of place on a Lennon album.
Playing on Compact Disc on 4AD Records 1990 - Fabulous Pixies album of Surf meets Sci Fi - One of my top 10 gigs was seeing them at The Brixton Academy London on that tour - They took the roof off - awesome memory

I think that was the gig I went to. Did it coincide with demos in S London (anti-poll tax?) that shut the tube stations. If so, I got there but my friend abandoned his journey. Anyhow it was a great gig and very enjoyable record.
Another one from this series of Japanese SHM-CDs. On this one I think they started drifting off. It's very well recorded, but too arid for my taste. The tunes and grroves aren't as good as they once were either.
R.E.M. - Monster.
I had "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?" rattling around inside my head the other day, so why not?
Often described as the R.E.M. album "which lost the jangle" and was their first rock album ....... whatever, I like it!
Oliver Jones Trio feat. Clark Terry - Just Friends. Cd rip.

Nice choice Dave,
Peter Buck said back it was their turn the guitars up album.
Crush with eyeliner is my favourite and worth checking the video on Youtube as they have got Japenese people playing them in the video of the song
Now playing........
Steely Dan - Can't Buy A Thrill
Streaming on TIDAL......... going back to '72, in the middle of a four year tour with the USMC and this was one of my favorite albums and got a lot of spins....... still sounding mighty sweet today!
The first album without Mike Portnoy..., good not excellent...
