On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
1978 - vinyl - UK pressing...
Currently listening to No. 2 in A- whilst having lunch - rather civilised, don't you think?
Albert Collins official live recording of his Montreaux show in 1978
New Order - Music Complete
House to myself this afternoon, result!
Volume is cranked to 11 and the place is bouncing.
Now Playing.........
Amina Alaoui - Arco Iris
Amina Alaoui (vocals, daf), Saïfallah Ben Abderrazak (violin), Sofiane Negra (oud), José Luis Montón (flamenco guitar), Eduardo Miranda (mandolin) and Idriss Agnel (percussion, electric guitar).

Fancied giving this a spin on vinyl for the first time in a while. Billy Bragg & Wilco - Mermaid Avenue. At the request of Wody Guthrie daughter, tunes composed by Billy Bragg / Wilco for lyrics written by Woody Guthrie. Guest appearance by Natalie Merchant. Very good.
Traveler--Great Album--First time listening-was blown away by it. Afterall it was Album of the Year in 2015 so I should not be surprised. If you are not a country fan but just love great music and vocals, give this a listen. He is practically in the room with my system. Downloaded from ProStudioMasters, 96/24 FLAC. PC download>USB>NDX>DAC V1>Krell>Apogee Scintillas@one ohm. Soon to add Uniti Core and Fraim and upgrade to NDX2.
This is such a contrast to his live concert Saturday eve at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford NH, USA.
Prince - Music from the motion picture Girl 6, a variety of different era Prince tunes that accompany the Spike Lee film.
Brad Mehldau - Art of the trio, vol. 1
An 'old' one from Brad Mehldau
The post by [@mention:72103499161120758] above prompted me to get this out, for the first time in 2018. A real return to form (and the Peter Saville cover was great too) after three absolute stinkers. Their best album since '93, even though Hooky wasn't on it.
This is the deluxe 8-LP version.
New vinyl...
Now Playing........
Anita Baker - Rhythm of Love
Streaming on NAS......... Anita is signing the 'Rhythm of Love' on the opening track and simply beautiful, picking up the beat and setting the tone to for the day!
Prefab Sprout - Jordan: The Comeback. Listening on vinyl. For me this is as good as their earlier LP, Steve McQueen.
1997 Cd rip
Art Farmer on 'Flumpet' which I believe he had made for him, and is a cross between trumpet and the softer toned flugelhorn.
He does produce a lovely sound, and his solo on 'Stardust' is super !
On CD:-
Rick Wakeman - Journey to the Centre of the Earth
On CD:-
Mike Oldfield - Hergest Ridge
Leo Richardson - The chase
If you like hard bob jazz like they played in the 50s or 60s, you should check out this album. All original compositions by Leo Richardson.
Leo Richardson: tenor saxophone; Rick Simpson: piano; Mark Lewandowski: bass; Ed Richardson: drums; Plus: Quentin Collins: trumpet (2,3,4); Alan Skidmore: tenor saxophone (8)
Now Playing.......
Alice Sara Ott - Nightfall
Streaming on TIDAL........ New release 24/08/18, Alice plays Debussy, and she is sounding fantastic!
Chuckles' best solo record, probably.
"The Bravery of Being Out Of Range", "It's A Miracle", "Amused to Death", "Three Wishes"... these are some of Waters' best songs outside the Floydian mothership. Add in Jeff Beck on guitar and superb orchestral arrangements by the late Michael Kamen and you've got a winner.
It is also an amazing recording (I remember a couple of years back Michael Fremer gave the vinyl version 11 out of 10 for SQ), especially on Blu-ray and in 24/96 (as in here).
After several hours of decorating I thought I deserved a rest with cup of tea and a bit of DS.

Very much agree with that, Kevin. I've only heard and got a bog-standard CD but the sound quality is superb.
Miles Davis - Four & More

A fine album, Jeroen. I have this as part of the Seven Steps box set. I think George Coleman is every bit as interesting and creative as Wayne Shorter at this time - rather underestimated IMHO.
