Couldn’t sleep due to severe back and hip pain, so I’ve taken a few painkillers and spinning this fine album. Hoping for some relief. ????The relief did not last long I spent the day retching and felt severely under the weather. Sunday was no better the retching had stopped but felt very shakey all day I thought I must have caught a bug. Monday I felt not to bad until I got up out of the chair and hit the floor double up with stomach pain. An ambulance was called by my locum Doctor after a call from my wife to take me straight to hospital. I ended up having an operation within a couple of hours having come down with Appendicitis. Still in hospital they reckon about 5 days. Hopefully back to the music soon. ????
Dan, sorry to hear about your setback and hope you have a speedy recovery and return to full health quickly!
......your wife most likely will be dropping off some home & garden magazines giving you some insights on the re-decorating you will be working on upon your release from the hospital!
Bob the Builder posted:Tabby cat posted:Bob the Builder posted:Bob Marley & the Wailers - Kaya 40th Anniversary edition on vinyl Record one is the original mix record two the one I'm playing now is a remaster by Bob's son Stephen Marley. The remaster isn't a straight forward remaster job for instance on the title track Kaya Stephen has added some dub effects and some echo on the vocal track all in all an excellent job.
Nice Marley Bob,
I remember when Kaya came out 1978 ? Bob was really big with Is this Love.
Sorry to go all HiFi corner in this calm place where it really is about the music. But I remember you mentioning in one of your postings that you would like to get your hands on ,one day a pair of Celestion Ditton 44's.
Why I mention this I have recently pressed some 15 XR's into service. They came from my father who went into a carehome in January this year and have been sat in a cupboard ever since. They have been part of his home system for the last 42 years so I am very familiar with their sounds as a teenager and visiting over the decades.Got them running in my study computer room with a NAD 3020 i amplifier and a Technics Compact Disc player and a LP12 which I got with a Akito arm off a workmate for £300 and have fitted a Audio Technica AT 95 to it.Taken the baseboard off the LP12 as always find the sound opens up.Got some 79 strand cable for £20.
Loving the sound of the Dittons.I know their not the best with some things but just so easy on the ear.I think it's their 90 watt sensitivity. The sound is like growing up and going to a record shop and just enjoying what your hearing and looking back those systems where using Mordant Shorts - Celestion's like the 33 and 15 and in my favourite House music shop in 1991 when Rave was still underground big JBL's.
So what I'm getting at to my ears high sensitivity speakers are just so easy on the ear.
Well pleased you have found audio peace with your 180 post in the corner.
Cheers Ian
Yes thanks Ian,
I'm actually building a second system just to play all of my old reggae tunes that don't sound so great on the LP12/Naim system because they are so poorly pressed some are pressed from recycled vinyl I have even found bits of old label in the runout.
I already have a Lenco GL75 in a new plinth with a Shure M95EJ MM cartridge this will go into a valve phono stage and valve pre/power or integrated with tone controls and then into something like the Celestion Dittons you mention I would actually love some vintage Tannoys but they are silly money now.
This is not an Audiophile hi fidelity system but an attempt to build one of those systems you speak of very warm and easy on the ear. A system that Kaya would sound great on.
I actually have my eye on a chineses valve pre that has bass and treble controls.
Brings back a lot of old memories Reggae albums with bits of label still in them from using recycled vinyl. I used to import the albums directly from Jamaica at one time but eventually had to stop because of the amount of probs with the discs.
Bill Carrothers: The Blues and the Greys: Music of the Civil War.
Sympathetic treatment of some beautiful melodies.
[@mention:1566878603956576] mentioned this album on the “amazed at first listen” thread and the artist on the “gone too soon” thread. The beauty of Tidal is that I can be listening to it this morning.

Probably the second highest selling jazz record of all time (with good reason IMHO). Playing the vinyl version I purchased in the late '80s.
Started with an old today, still sounding acceptable...
Moving on to the newest generation...
Playing on Compact Disc on Naxos - Gourgous Vivaldi Cello Concerti
R3 where we are just having a discourse on Edith Sitwell (d.1964) as the originator of rap.

...are you blown away?
Can you post album art directly to the blog via the Naim App, or is it super complicated? I’d like to share but don’t want to fluff around with lots of cutting and pasting to web links.
Listening a bit to this superband, some ups and downs..

That post led me to switch to the tuner, only to find Fantasy on themes from La Traviata, which is, of course infinitely better than any (c)rap 'music'.

That would be handy, but unfortunately not. You'll have to search for album art and paste the URL.
