On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Having to use my iPhone to control my NDS for a moment while my iPad is on charge forced me to start the app from fresh and so I found myself looking at the artist index just a bit differently and spotted this, which I haven’t played in ages. The music feels just right for late on a Sunday afternoon. Good recording too.
Jimmy Smith - The Sermon
Great jazz with a great line up.
- Alto Saxophone – George Coleman (tracks: 2), Lou Donaldson (tracks: 1, 3)
- Drums – Art Blakey (tracks: 1, 3), Donald Bailey (tracks: 2)
- Guitar – Eddie McFadden (tracks: 1, 3), Kenny Burrell (tracks: 2)
- Organ – Jimmy Smith
- Tenor Saxophone – Tina Brooks (tracks: 1, 3)
- Trumpet – Lee Morgan
Playing on Vinyl - Enchanting Dream pop from Mazzy Star from 1993
Nerina Pallot's Stay Lucky is still sounding as fabulous today as it was one my first listen, and the very many listens since.
Bryan Adams - Waking Up The Neighbours.
Late afternoon barbecue with friends, so probably quite appropriate.
Portrait of Stanley Clarke Cd rip
I thought I would dig out an older album of his as the latest one is so good.
His new one is up there with my fav blues albums of the year.
Pure Pleasure vinyl reissue released 2016 - The vocals, acoustic guitar and the message is there. This is one of the best acoustic blues albums you will ever own. Recommended ????
Blue Mitchell - The thing to do
Thanks for the heads up Dan - the Rev Gary Davis is a monster of acoustic fingerstyle guitar; inspired so many performers.

After a fairly lively barbecue this afternoon, myself and the last few stragglers just chillin' in the garden to some Roots Reggae.
(1967 | 2017)
The Doors 50th Anniversary (Hi-Res Mono)
Just in from walking the puppy and went straight for this one when I got back as it had been running in my head.
Sounding sublime through my mobile (1Z / SE846) setup tonight.
Diana Krall - All For You
Pentangle, Basket of Light from 1968, featuring Bert Jansch & Jacque McShee, cd WAV rip.
Not my fave arrangements from CB, but a nice change; something a little different.
Now Playing...
Wolfgang Muthspiel - Rising Grace
Wolfgang Muthspiel (guitar), Ambrose Akinmusire (trumpet), Brad Mehldau (piano), Larry Grenadier (double bass) and Brian Blade (drums).
Streaming on TIDAL........ Trying something new, enjoyed the Brian Blade album earlier and thought I would choose another album with him performing....... and it is sounding mighty fine!
