What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Just starting to get into the great jazz trumpet and composition of Ms Laura Jurd and her band, Dinosaur. Challenging, complex but definitely feel good. First tonight is the band’s first album, Together, as One. Great stuff.
Next is Dinosaur’s latest, Wonder Trail. Great stuff :-)

Youn Sun Nah - Vocals
Gary Husband - Drums

NDR Bigband conducted by Jörg Achim Keller
That sounds interesting. Never heard of it before.

Rod Stewart = Time.
After the new Kandace Springs album I thought I'd go for some heavy-duty. This fits.

Got home from work and was pleased to discovered that Amazon had delivered this, as promised. So have just unwrapped it and popped it into the CDX2. Early impressions are positive and, wow, there's some pretty prodigious bass lines here.

Yes Mike, I had a listen to this on Tidal this evening. Although she also has an EP knocking about, this one essentially is that tricky second album and I am liking it already. So glad she is trying something a little different, although that lovely trademark vocal is unmistakably there in all its glory.
Awaiting my copy of the CD to arrive.
John Lennon - Acoustic, from 04 and not the best of posthumous releases.Neat that as well as lyrics there are guitar chords for each track contained in the cd booklet.
Ripped red book CDs sound stunning through the Tidal DAC
Vinyl released 1974 - My fave Morrison album. ????
Listened to this earlier this evening. Andrew Bird - Hands of Glory. I've been investigating Andrew's back catalogue and this is a lovely album, with a few covers thrown in (Handsome Family and Townes Van Zandt amongst others). I have a few of his albums now and they are so good I will be buying all of his remaining albums.
Eric Clapton - Backless.
Posted this not too long ago. Hiss Golden Messenger - Lateness of Dancers. I've been listening to this a lot recently and it just gets better with every play. A slightly strange name for a band, but it seems to be the trend these days. The main man behind the band is MC Taylor and I will be buying more of his CDs. If you like Americana, folk, blues, country rock, then I think this will be your cup of tea.
Chunky - it is so helpful when people on here take the time to describe the music and the band they are posting, even if only briefly. Your summary seems very interesting and I have queued this in Tidal for a listen. I suspect so much good music passes me by on here because I am unfamiliar with it and the person posting gives no clues. And I will admit, I too am guilty of this on occasion. Will try harder.
Thanks for the words to support the album cover. Appreciated.

Reacquainting myself with her first album before downloading the new one
Now Playing.........
Robert Plant - lullaby and... The Ceaseless Roar
Streaming on TIDAL......... a mention from STEVEE_S above prompted me to place this in the TIDAL queue and take it out for a spin, it has been awhile and Robert & the band is sounding mighty sweet!
Lloyd Cole - Don't Get Weird On Me Babe
He'd gone to America. The songs were darker. Life was changing. But I still like the record.

After listening to the new album 'Indigo' on TIDAL this morning, my first inclination is that Soul Eyes knocked it out of the park, I did not get the same feeling on the first spin of 'Indigo.' A few great tracks but the overall album did not grab me like Soul Eyes did on its first listen. This may change a bit after getting the CD, ripping it and then giving it another listen.
Still looking forward to following her career, great vocals and musician.
Well as I suspected not much dynamic range which will prevent this becoming a staple, not totally brickwalled though some tracks are worse than others.
Some very pleasant songs on it though, nothing to rival his best post Beatles music but when he’s not trying too hard for a hit the songs are quite charming in their own way.

Fully agree Nigel. This thread has lead to some interesting and productive journeys, but the posts that do no more than show a picture of an album with no hints about what makes it different and WHY anyone might be interested* are aural dead ends. Time is limited, I’ll happily follow through on a suggestion that’s filled with enthusiasm and descriptive text (often do tbh) but a picture and the album title? Next please.

currently enjoying Hiss Golden Messenger. Thanks for the nudge Chunky.

Thanks. Yes, I think it's helpful if members do this. For example, I have noticed a lot of members listening to Kandace Springs, but as far as I can recall (but I could be wrong on this) I have not noticed anyone describe the type of music Kandace is involved with. I wondered if it might be jazz or soul? Having said that, these days it is quite easy to check out music on the internet and no doubt I will at some stage check out Kandace to see what the fuss is about. I hope you enjoy the Hiss Golden Messenger album.

Completely agree. Had a listen this morning and it was not as involving as the first album. First half is too funky and not even the cover(quite underwhelming version) of Flack’s First Time....is not enough to make me buy the album. I’ll Just listen to Erykah Badu instead. It’s the same sound but better.
