On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

Joshua Redman - Mood Swing
Joshua Redman (tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone), Brad Mehldau (piano), Christian McBride (bass) and Brian Blade (drums).
Streaming on NAS............ A recent purchase from Fat Cat Records and taking out for a spin...... The lineup is impressive and the opening number delivers, Joshua is sounding fantastic and the interplay between the quartet pulls you right into the music. They are sounding mighty sweet! Looking forward to the next 60+ minutes........

Thanks for this recommendation. Great music from an artist I have rarely heard although I have several CDs by his pianist Brad Mehldau. I listened to a couple more albums by Joshua Redmond and particularly commend “Nearness” from 2016 which has some great interplay between Redman and Mehldau

Playing on Cassette on Maxel UL S - C60 - Some Live Eric from the Rainbow Theatre London with the artists on the cover from 1973 - Good version of Badge and JJ Cales After Midnight

24/96 PCM stereo, from that new superdeluxe box. Soundwise, a define step up from that godawful 2007 version, but, as I had feared, it's the 'movie' version with butchered versions of NQ, WLL and CD. Grrr...
Very nice package though.
And D&C I assume. Not butchered per se, but lacking the overdubs and edits of the original vinyl (and fat boy CD) release.
Greg Brown - Covenant
I got an ear worm singing the first track of this in my head and for the life me I couldn't think who the artist was. Then it came to me, the wonderful gravelly voice of Greg Brown.
Genre? - a lovely blend of Country and Blues, but it is that unique voice that draws me in.
I never did buy this when it came out - something I subsequently regretted. However, I purchased the 2017 remaster last year, which as far as I can recall is not obviously inferior to the original, although I wish they'd pressed it on normal weight vinyl.
Vinyl released 2005 - Great album. ????
Having a blast with Seal's debut album. I've got quite a few of his albums but I think this and his second stand-out.

That's a lovely album. I must get a CD of it.
Ah thanks Mike - I was just thinking about what to listen to next and you've solved that problem for me
Brad Mehldau - After Bach
Improvisations on Bach's music. What a beautiful album by Brad Mehldau!
Having listened to Seal's debut album and posted it when I noted that it was up there with his second album, well, I had to listen to that next, didn't I?
(1996)
Peter Erskine Trio - Juni
Some lovely laid back jazz easing us into Tuesday evening.
What more could you want, Zeppelin, reggae and (Tort)Elvis all together! Awesome!
1972 - vinyl - US pressing...
Paul Weller
Heavy Soul - CD Rip
Great album from “The Modfather“.

Now playing.......
Brian Blade Fellowship
Brian Blade (drums), Melvin Butler (soprano and tenor saxophones), Jon Cowherd (piano, Wurlitzer), Dave Easley (pedal steel guitar), Daniel Lanois (mando guitar), Jeff Parker (acoustic guitar), Christopher Thomas (acoustic bass), Myron Walden (alto saxophone) and Kurt Rosenwinkel (electric guitar).
Streaming on NAS....... have been enjoying Brian's music lately and need to further explore his catalogue! Enjoying the 'Fellowship' quite a bit!
This afternoon listened to one of my favorite Dream Theater albums. There own song tracks at 23 minutes and is a small progressive metal masterpiece. Brilliant playing combined with great lyrics. The remainder of the album is covered with covers, but at the level that the guys have raised the covers to new standards of the base songs. The highlights of the covers are With a medley of songs including achilles Last Stand of Led Zeppelin and Perfect Stranger of Deep Purple. Highly recommended....

Indeed Clive. It's the 29 mins 11 sec '2007 version', two and a half minutes longer than the original LP/fat boy CD version.

I think I am complete with Joshua Redman and besides one album I like them all. I would also recommend the album Trios Live and the James Farm albums...
Lee Konitz, Brad Mehldau & Charlie Haden - Alone together
Then later this afternoon I listened to the album of Dream Theater which was recorded after the drummer Mike Portnoy left the band. I was a bit scared when this happened - but have to stay that the new guy does a great job, while I belief Mike Portnoy brought more than just drumming to the band in the past. He was also more or less mastermind and communication channel. Unfortunately since then we haven’t seen an album which can compete with the likes of the earlier albums of Dream Theater, like Scenes of a Memory, Images and Words...
Kandace Springs - Indigo
Just listened to the rip of this cd that fell through the letterbox this morning.
A development from her first album, Soul Eyes, but is certainly growing on me.
Via my Oppo 205, a 24/96 digital file of Darrel's first rough mix of "Up In Smoke" (the title of the debut album by Ese & The Vooduu People). As I said the other week, it was recorded completely in analogue, on a 24 track two-inch Studer A800 Mark III machine through a 1976 API console, using vintage amps, FX and mics. Sounding very, very nice indeed (songs, performance and SQ).
Tomorrow there's a playback session for the band; then, all being well, next week mastering for vinyl starts at Gearbox (pictured above), via another vintage Studer and various bits of old Decca gear, onto a 1967 Haeco Sculley lathe (pictured below).
Side 1:
Up In Smoke – I Don't Mind – Peace Of Mind – Alien – Untitled
Side 2:
Grey Part One – Silver Spoon – Where Did I Go Wrong? – Family Affair – Grey Part Two
Double vinyl released 2017 - Plenty of satisfaction in this album. ???? Great stuff ????
