On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Vinyl released 1988 - Some fine cheerful music on a rainy morning in Liverpool. Great album. ????

The Rolling Stones. Some Girls. Early vinyl from 1978 with original cover. By far my favorite Stones album.
The last really good Stones record IMO and sonically very good especially on vinyl. It was released at the end of a 10 year purple patch for Jagger and Richards that included some truly great records, Tatoo You had a couple of good tracks but it really did see the end of The Rolling Stones as an album band.
100 % agree Bob,
I also found the following albums a bit so so.Some really great tracks but also so much fillers.I think they knew that as live they wouldn't play the weaker songs even if t was the album they where touring only the big single.I appreciate they have an immense back catalogue live but as you say the purple patch was over album wise.......but not playing live.

Mr Fingers. Cerebral Hemispheres.
I'll have to give this a try one of the true House Music pioneers his work in Fingers Inc with Robert Owens was seminal to this genre and their track Can U Feel It is probably only rivalled by Derrick May's Strings of Life as the best and most important House Music track ever in my humble opinion. Great to see this very, very talented electronic musician represented on this forum.
Bob @ Tony
Talking of Classic House - Robert Owen's I'll be your friend is another one for the list.....but there is a good 50 more for me.
Playing on Vinyl on Archiv Records - Always love hearing this album which I picked up in a charity shop years ago and amazed I could find it on google images - Incredibly atmospheric Gregorian Chant.Theres one point when this bell in the Abbey where there singing it starts ringing - very calming
Released 2017 - Excellent album by Brooklyn singer Becca Stevens. A unique flavour of jazz and Appalachian folk-tinged songs makes this a great listen. Features David Crosby too. ????
Started this morning with the new one of Phronesis, enjoyable with the first part being the strongest...
This is a surprise for me. I was a bit skeptical, as Ibrahim moved into a certain direction which I had the feeling is banking on his earlier success and stage presence...., so I bought it, but low expectations. Now the album is quite special. It’s even difficult to describe, sometimes big band style, sometimes looks like nice sounding with a flair of Kamasi Washington and then it moves again to hard in the face fushion. It at least gives my ND555 the opportunity to shine. Absolutely recommended ...
Now a 2nd complete and serious run. One of my favorite artists in jazz. The right balance in my feeling between painting with tones a good melodies on an interesting rhythmic base. This will not be the last time that I will run this one...
An enthusiastic Saturday with my 5si combo & Neat Motive SX2 speakers will start with this one -
.
Hummel - Bassoon concerto in F major
Eric Clapton, the debut solo album, playing the deluxe edition with some excellent bonus tracks from the sessions and material from a similar time frame.

Always preferred the Delaney Bramlett mix to the album rather than the one that was issued.

Yes Ewen, that is on the second disc of this set, apparently even Clapton had ago , but they plumped for the Tom Dowd mix for the original.A fantastic array of talent on this set.
David Bowie - The Man Who Sold The World. Vinyl, UK first pressing. I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s like listening to this for the first time compared to the CD rip, esp the deep tight bass and increase in soundstage of Width of a Circle for example. Would be good / interesting to compare to HD version at some point. House to myself for the morning so it’s vinyl time!
I very rarely use the I-Radio on the NDS, but for some reason I found myself looking through what was available. I found a podcast of Geoffrey Smith's jazz programme dedicated to McCoy Tyner. OK, he doesn't play full tracks (at least not in this podcast, it's rather like listening to the 30s excerpts available on AMG), but it's rather good to have his expert appraisal of the work of the piano maestro.
Dave Alvin - Eleven Eleven. This is so good. Blues, Americana, Rock n roll, country, folk - all are influences here.
It's a glorious sunny morning, which made me think of yellow... and this broadcast collection of formative Stones material is about the yellowest thing I could think of...
Variable SQ but tremendous fun. Double CD:
Jimi Hendrix - Blues, recorded between 1966 and 70 with many tracks previously unreleased .

I prefer , for some reason, the Tattoo You album
Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy. Vinyl, second issue German Alsdorf pressing. Sounding pretty good overall if a little crackly in places.
On CD:-
Tunng - Songs You Make At Night
Super Furry Animals - Rings Around The World. Looking at the shelves and noticed this, which I haven't played for quite a while. A melange of pop, prog, electronics and other sounds. Very good, as all their albums are. A bit shocked to note that this dates from 2001.
Interesting album....
Ok album, not totally excited...
