What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

I love this Chris Stapleton Album. If you like this, you may also like "Traveler" his earlier album. Also, try volume 2 of "In a Room"

Hi Bailyhill,
I have both those albums and they too are indeed wonderful. CS has a remarkable voice. Such power, control and emotion. Fine lyrics and guitar playing too on all these albums. What is not to like.
Cheers
Prince - The Truth.
Prince in acoustic mode .................... a quite stunning album .................. highly recommended to all fans of His Purpleness.
Saw CS at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion last month. Enjoyed it. It was my wife and my 44th wedding anniversary present to ourselves. Unfortunately, his sound engineer thought it was more important to boost the sound and base level, so that Chris' voice was almost completely obliterated. If his sound man is listening, go back and play the album that made him--Traveler--and make the concerts sound like that. That is what CS fans want to hear. I really want to hear his music on a 555. Sounds terrific on my NDX.

Never really got what this guy was capable of.....saw the George Harrison concert posthumous intro hall of fame. Prince apparently did not rehearse for “ my guitar gently weeps”.....what agig
Not quite sure why I liked this one, but listened to it all the way through !?
Something to wind down the weekend with. On CD:
Recorded live at Whitehaven in 2001. I think I was at the concert after this one, but it captures very well the interplay between Dunnery and the audience. Some really good songs mostly promoting the Man album, but also including a great version of Too Much Saturn and others from TBH. Great live sound too. Frank and Matt were later joined by Dorie Jackson to become the Grass Virgins, who played at Cropredy, which someone on here referred to recently.
I remember pre-ordering this album with great anticipation and on listening to it it still managed to exceed my expectations. So much going on in each song to savour. Superb preproduction quality. One of my all-time favourites. And this evening, thanks to the CD555, I'm hearing new insights. Sublime.

Dave, congrats on the new streamer, as you know I am familiar with this album ,so is it possible to put into words the difference you are now hearing ?

Joe Jackson's Jumpin' Jive, great fum
Rag 'n' Bone Man - Human.
Sounding sublime tonight.
Vinyl:
Started this evening with the 2nd run of the first one and the 1st run of the 2nd one, very well executed. Nicely balanced and not so raw as some others...
The 2nd one also sounds fantastic, it could even attract people who are not that fond of a string quartet...

I'm not the best at describing musical interpretation in words, but as far as this fine album from Prince is concerned, on the opening track, "The Truth", I can now hear much more of the room acoustic during recording, can just about decide whether he's hitting the strings on an up or down stroke, and the whole song seems more "together".
I've mentioned elsewhere that there is a much greater sense of the band / singer being present in the room, and in the case of the Rag 'n' Bone Man album, above, the somewhat overproduced arrangement resulted in a rather mushy background to the stunning vocals.
That's all gone now, and the whole thing is crystal clear. The NDS was a superlative streamer, but this ND555 is some piece of kit!

Cheers for that Dave, I think I'll have to play that track now
(1985)
ZZ Top - Afterburner
Because I'm just in the mood for some hard hitting exquisitely played blues rock from these Texicans.
Joan as Police Woman - The Deep Field
My, this is an album.
I haven't listened to this LP for quite a while!
Justin Adams featuring Anneli Drecker - Ribbons.
More Saharan ambient trance goodness from Justin, mainstay of Robert Plant's band, this time teaming up with Anneli Drecker, she
of Röyksopp fame, and together they have produced a lovely late night album.
