Hi Bert,
I'm unsure what preceded your ND 555, but I was coming from an NDS, and as I posted earlier, I had always found the album to be somewhat over produced, with the arrangement sounding "mushy" and confused behind Rory's great voice.
The ND 555 seems able to cut through all of this, and the backing musicians are now crystal clear, with great separation between the instruments.
Did you also find this, or am I just imagining it?
Dave.
Vinyl reissue originally released 1972 - The captain on fine form on this album from the excellent “Sun Zoom Spark” box set. ????
Playing on Compact Disc - Gourgous album by Mazzy Star from 2013
Not sure what genre I'd assign to this album but it is very nice.
Yellowjackets - Raising our voice
The new album of the Yellowjackets. On this album they work together with Brazilian vocalist Luciana Souza. They play some old and new tunes.
This was first Beth Nielsen Chapman album and although I have since bought others this remains my favourite.
Now Playing........
Kristjah Randalu - Absence
Kristjan Randalu (piano), Ben Monder (electric guitar) and Markku Ounaskari (drums).
Streaming on NAS......... A fine pianist and for a debut album this trio sounds like they have been together for years. Wonderful music to wake up and sit with before moving into the day, very, very nice!
Playing on Cassette on TDK SA - X C60 - Classic 2nd album by Jefferson Airplane from 1967....1967 was a vintage musical year
Vinyl released 2015 - Fine album from ex Civil Wars duo Joy Williams. ????
On CD:-
ZZ Top - Antenna
George Cotsirilos quartet - Mostly in blue
George Cotsirilos - Guitar
Keith Saunders - Piano
Robb Fisher - Bass
Ron Marabuto - Drums
Metronomy - English Riviera
Cool afternoon tunes.
Earlier, on R4, Andrew Bird, Living for the city, where Andrew Bird returned to his native Chicago. I'd not heard of the guy but liked his music and might look for it. I also liked the way he spoke of his past and the sense of place he gave us.
This programme is findable on Listen Again for anyone interested.
