ZZ Top - Antenna

I absolutely love this album, which, being just chock full of The Reverend's pinch harmonics, together with the excellent recording, is

just pure Topness goodness.

  Jimi Hendrix - Blues.

Just lashings of Jimi goodness, as he does the blooze .................. and turns out one of his finest albums, IMHO.

Mélanie de Biasio

Lilies is made of shadows and light, it’s a misty thing in which you can get lost, enveloped in the resonance.

Lilies lies somewhere between jazz, rock, minimalist electronic music, trip-hop and blues…

I got this sent over from Japan, it took a while but is in absolutely mint/new condition and only cost me a fiver!

CD is where it's at for me presently - there are unbelievable bargains to be had at the moment - enough for me to put streaming on hold. Not that any streaming service would dare to have this in their libraries!

  Justin Adams - Desert Road.

Justin's first album under his own name, this mix of African trance blues, recorded alone in a tiny studio, is highly recommended.

Available on Tidal, and for pennies over on The River ...................... and, as we say on here, a Belter!

I'm a big fan of both Ry Cooder and Ali Farka Toure, and this album couldn't be a better showcase of their respective talents.

As you say, a fantastic album.

Ry Cooder - The Prodigal Son.

So, in light of the above, continuing in a Ry frame of mind, this album marks a stunning return to form from Señor Cooder, IMHO.

This arrived today. It was being played by Jeroen recently and I thought I'd take a shot. It's now on its third play! A superb album, assertive hard bop with elements of Monk. Very enjoyable.

James McMurtry - Complicated Game

A fabulous album from the man, wonderful story telling on every track forming a whole for the album's theme and 'story'. Probably my favourite album so far Mr. Mc'.

Had an enjoyable morning with this great album...

Hi Bert,

I'm unsure what preceded your ND 555, but I was coming from an NDS, and as I posted earlier, I had always found the album to be somewhat over produced, with the arrangement sounding "mushy" and confused behind Rory's great voice.

The ND 555 seems able to cut through all of this, and the backing musicians are now crystal clear, with great separation between the instruments.

Did you also find this, or am I just imagining it?

Dave.

I was also coming from a NDS, and yes it sound different, like any album. More space and detail, more round, less only focused on his voice.

It’s interesting to see that practically every album sounds different than before.

Johny Cash - Hurt

Following on from Mr. McMurtry I had a great need to listen to this wonderful final album from Johnny Cash.
