On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

Always better different? Or just different, sometimes better?
Always better, never have been dissapointed so far.
Amy Wadge - Amy Wadge
I can't remember who posted this originally, but what a fine album this is from a talent new to me.
Classic singer-songwriter material, some very strong and memorable choons on here.
Talented gal.

Richard Hawley - Truelove's Gutter
Good album this. The track Remorse Code is probably my favourite Richard Hawley song.

Nigel, I think it was me that posted this album.Never heard of her till the installation engineer was setting up my ND555 and played her via Tidal I was very pleasantly surprised as you say a very talented gal I’m trying to find some more of her CDs.

Cool afternoon tunes.
Earlier, on R4, Andrew Bird, Living for the city, where Andrew Bird returned to his native Chicago. I'd not heard of the guy but liked his music and might look for it. I also liked the way he spoke of his past and the sense of place he gave us.
This programme is findable on Listen Again for anyone interested.
I've got a few of Andrew Bird's albums and I can heartily recommend his music. Folk -pop with some lovely melodies.
Miles Davis - Milestones
Paolo Nutini - Sunny Side Up
I'm giving this 10/10.
Released 2007 - Some fine relaxing smooth jazz from the late Chuck Loeb. Great stuff ????
So long ago, old sentiment...., but still having the magic of once....
Difficult to put in a box, but nice

Thanks, Bert. That's what I was hoping you'd say!
Having played Black Fire three (or was it four?) times in a row I decided to play this for a change, yet more of the same. Suddenly this really made sense and came alive for me. Previously I have found this to be rather close to the avant-garde, but it's still very much within reach of hard bop enthusiasts.
Vinyl reissue originally released 1972 - Excellent album. ????
After Andrew Hill has recalibrated my ears, even this, Eric Dolphy's 'Out to Lunch!', with its complex time signatures and massive intervallic leaps, sounds just fresh and exciting.
Bentley Caldwell - The Place That I Call Home (2018). I've seen him mentioned on here. First listen. I get it, simply outstanding.
B Ferry - In Your Mind
My favourite Ferry solo record, this one bought for me by my brother Andy for my 23rd birthday, I think! Thanks Andy.
Just finished this. Destroyer - Kaputt. Superior pop from Vancouver. Led by Daniel Bejar, who also plays from time to time with The New Pornographers.
Moved on to this. Iron and Wine - Ghost on Ghost. A slight departure from Sam Beam's previous albums, with some jazz and R&B influences added. Some lovely melodies on this.
Now playing........
Donald Fagen - The Nightfly
Streaming on TIDAL.......... Spending some afternoon time with Donald and he is sounding mighty sweet!
Fantastic acoustic version, well worth a listen.
Sting - Mercury Falling, one of his more pop flavoured albums.
Kylie Minogue - Golden
This is purely in preparation for next Monday at the Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff.
I always enjoy a concert more when I know the majority of tunes. However, I don't do dancing.

No point in going, then.
