Rag 'n' Bone Man - Wolves.

Nine tracks of aural goodness from the big fella ............... this, so called, EP does does illustrate his roots, and contains a bit more

rapping than the million selling "Human" album, but who cares ................. what a voice!

Just been informed by The River that my pre-ordered copy won't be arriving at Chez Dave until Tuesday!!!!!

I'll just have to content myself with Tidal until then, I suppose ............... Harrumph!

1975 - vinyl - UK pressing....

Jimmy Smith - House Party

This album was taken from the same session as 'The Sermon'. So, it has the same great line up!

Vinyl - Joe Zawinul - Unique !

Posted on: 21 September 2018 by Kevin-W

UK first press vinyl. I probably bought this back in 1988 because I liked him and it sounded great back then. It hasn't aged well - I mean, has any sound dated more badly than 1980s slap-bass synth?

"Budapest By Blimp" is still a great song though.

This is one of the first CDs I bought when CD was the 'new thing'.  Cost about £15 in those days. Thirty or so years later I'm still enjoying it so I think I've had my monies worth.

John Coltrane - Lush Life - 1984 German vinyl reissue on OJC/Prestige

Recorded over 6 months between 1957 - 58 along with a fantasic group of jazz men

Side A features Earl May on Bass and Arthur Taylor on Drums

Side B Donald Bird on trumpet, Red Garland on Piano, Paul Chambers on Bass and both Louis Hayes and Al Heath on drums.

I sometimes struggle with John Coltrane just too many notes for me to follow sometimes but this record is a little less frantic.

1967 - Vinyl - UK first (mono) pressing...

            Cream - Disraeli Gears...

Thought it was about time that I played my favourite Bowie album again (Ziggy comes  close second)

The Miles Davis Quintet - Round About Midnight - 1957 Australian Mono 1st Press on Coronet CBS Records KLP650

The original super group Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Red Garland, Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones.

Quite a rare pressing this one and sounding absolutely brilliant through the LP12/102/180 is as good if not better than the Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab remaster that I also own. Just wish I had a mono cart and mono switch give it real justice.

Remastered by Jeffery Norman from the original analog master reel-to-reel recordings : )

On my 3rd play of this set, despite some recording level variations here and there, this is quite good.

Presently recovering from an acute bronchitis infection that set in a week ago, i'm coughing plenty, and on the parrots eat 'em all so  there'll be no wine for me this weekend : (

however my hearing is fine so i feel gratefully dead for that : )

One of my favourite Dire Straits albums but it took me quite a few years before I really appreciated its merits.

I bought that on the day of release. A very fine album.

The dynamics of the opening track from Thumpermonkey's new album make you sit up, especially at 2.07

An artist rarely mentioned here. Bleak at times but a fine collection of songs.
