On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
1975 - Vinyl - UK first pressing...
(2013)
Goldfrapp - Tales of Us
Hard to believe this is five years old, I went to a local cinema one evening to watch the live release direct from their studio it just seems like yesterday!
Now playing........
Lizz Wright - The Orchard
Streaming on NAS......... Arrived in the mail, ripped to NAS and now taking out for a spin. I'm familiar with this album and Lizz's work, she is fantastic and so is this album!

Ha! So did I Steve - really enjoyed it. It's a pity Will and Alison haven't released that on DVD/BRD or some other media, it was really good. From AIR Studios in London IIRC.
My last for tonight.
A spot of ripping off Albert on the first track.

Agreed Seakayaker. Just remember to wait a bit after the end of track 11 on the CD (rip), as track 12 takes a while to spring into action. For quite some time this caught me out and I only recently heard tracks 12 and 13.
Durrrrr........
This gal has an astonishing voice that can't fail to draw the listener in, well this listener anyway.
A Bard's Eye view of Wales, The Essay on R3, Twm Morys on Lloyd George.
The women were mentioned. Apparently a reporter was sent to interview the elderly Lloyd George at his London hotel, towards the end of his life. The reporter found him in bed flanked by two bare-breasted women. "Get on with it then", said Lloyd George.

Do tell, which restaurant, wouldn't happen to be in Edinburgh would it?

UK first press vinyl. I probably bought this back in 1988 because I liked him and it sounded great back then. It hasn't aged well - I mean, has any sound dated more badly than 1980s slap-bass synth?
"Budapest By Blimp" is still a great song though.
Taken as a whole, in context, and as fun social commentary it remains superb - one of my go to hi-fi demo albums in the late 80's/early 90's - easy to dismiss as a bit twee now, but a guilty pleasure I still enjoy immensely.
Love the album cover too.
I've never been entirely bowled over by post-Fish Marillion, they've had some frankly dire/boring albums and several albums with many excellent tracks but not enough to make the whole thing work.
I've been listening to this more and more in recent weeks, though selectively choosing 'The Leavers I-V', there are some truly sumptuous musical arrangements here, though again several tracks don;t really work for me - I suspect my favourite track choices might be different to others however....
Now Playing.......
Boz Scaggs - Fade Into Light
Streaming on NAS.......... arrived in the afternoon mail, ripped to NAS and now taking out for a spin. The Boz is sounding mighty sweet, perfect for starting off the Friday evening!

I’m really enjoying this to. I picked up the Blu-ray of the Royal Albert Hall concert and then landed this, Marbles and Sounds that Can’t be Made and it’s reborn my interest in what was my favorite band in the Fish era. This is a really fine album and I used it as my reference source for my recent upgrade to a Nova.

Ian, no not Edinburgh, Little's restaurant in Blairgowrie, Perthshire. As voted for in Scotland by customers for their favourite restaurants in 2016/2017, Willie Little is consistently excellent and the move a hundred yards to the other side of the river Ericht into a re-modelled church this year has only enhanced the dining experience and improved upon the already fine levels of service.

Dan Arborise - Of Tide & Trail
A great, Martyn-esque start to the day.

Thanks for the recommendation, if I'm ever in the region I'll have to give it a whirl.
I can't help thinking that's an SBL painted white at the bottom left of the pic!
Emmylou Harris - Wrecking Ball. She pours emotion into every song and drags the listener in with a captivating voice and performance.
Lily Allen. No Shame.
have quite a soft spot for the Alien. She looks as good as she sounds and sounds as good as she looks, although I haven't studied how she walks and whether there's a correlation to how she talks. But she seems all of a piece as a young artist.
Missing some of the fun Dub of earlier stuff, but still very good.
Goran Sollscher - Bach: suites & sonata

Ha, SBL indeed... one track mind?! Well worth a detour to eat there if you are in or around the area.
