On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Lennie Holley- Just Before Music.
A bit of what they tend to call avant garde music.
I have been playing his latest MITH for a few days and love it as well.
Good start for Sunday morning
Yoram Ish-Hurwitz - Liszt: Annees de Pelerinage
Starting this morning with Liszt.
Vinyl - Not sure if I would still enjoy this after all these years, but I do !
Blue Note Plays Billie Holiday.
Coffee. Grey drizzle. Great music.
On CD. It starts with "It's Raining Today".
European Jazz trio - Angie
- Bass – Frans Van Der Hoeven
- Drums – Roy Dackus
- Guitar – Jesse Van Ruller
- Piano – Marc van Roon
I know KW has waxed lyrical about this box set. Mine arrived late last night 9.00am some problem with prime same day delivery but it was definitely worth the wait... Wow it is just magnificent and really is a high water mark for box sets and reissues. Everything about it has been done right. Too often, it can be more trouble than it's worth to take box sets off the shelf, lift a lid off, lift up a book or a photo print, fish out the discs...This is exceptionally well designed, with the two easy access folders containing four discs apiece. Easy to remove, scratch-free, The book is a thing of beauty. Stunning photos and informative text and in my opinion destined to be regarded as a textbook example of how to curate an artist's catalogue.
The Girl From Chickasaw County - The Complete Capitol Masters Box set.
AC/DC Back in Black
Ever fresh and gutsy, more so with recent upgrades. Original vinyl.

I needed more edge.
Less emotional than others - but not less attractive...
As usual showing her immense capability, however I like to see it part of a bigger album. I fear DG has tricked us and will release the full concert as a deluxe later...
Typical atmospheric neo classical solo piano with sounds / noise in the background, nice for a rainy day. Will buy some of it...

Would love to have that, difficult to get albums from them, only at high prices...
Jesse van Ruller - In pursuit
Duo recording between Bert van den Brink (piano) and Jesse van Ruller (guitar). Great jazz, very good interplay between the two.
Focus - 3, first play after purchasing for a steal at a record fair.I bought it mostly for "Sylvia" but I have to say it is very melodic and I'm enjoying it immensely and not a yodel in sight ( up to now anyway)
Jimmy Owens & Kenny Barron quintet - You had better listen.
Recorded in 1967.
- Bass – Christopher White
- Drums – Freddie Waits (tracks: A1, A2, B2), Rudy Collins (tracks: B1, B3)
- Piano – Kenny Barron
- Tenor Saxophone, Flute – Benny Maupin
- Trumpet, Flugelhorn – Jimmy Owens
Miles Davis E.S.P. - the first studio recording of the second great Miles Davis Quintet featuring Wayne Shorter (ts), Herbie Hancock (p), Ron Carter (b), and Tony Williams (d). A milestone in the development of modal jazz; an album which is remarkably accessible IMHO.
Bobby Gentry - The Girl From Chickasaw County
Thanks to a few forum members for bringing my attention to this. Luckily, the whole box set is available via Tidal.
I am busy working my way through it whilst studying for an exam. So far so good, very enjoyable.
The music not the studying!
Van Morrison - Enlightenment, another capture from the record fair yesterday
Great dynamics in this recording...
An early Albert Collins album from 69
