On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Playing on Vinyl - Lovely Vivaldi Violin Concertos - Perfect music to do the housework
Riverside, Waste7and,
Steaming from Tidal as my Pre-ordered CD has not arrived yet. I am really liking this album.

Imelda May - Life Love Flesh Blood.
Disc four of The Girl From Chickasaw County: The Complete Capitol Masters, the brilliant Bobbie Gentry box set, released last week.
This volume covers what is for me the least interesting period of her career, covering the commercially successful but artistically flawed collaboration with fellow Capitol artist Glen Campbell on Bobbie Gentry & Glen Campbell. The bonus cuts are a bit better than what's included on the album, however, and the sound quality as as good as we've come to expect on this wonderful set.

A great album. Well played, but also well selected...
The Derek Trucks Band - Songlines.
Triggered by a review of his new EP, he keeps on rising...
Relaxing Quartet, worthwhile to listen...

Alt- J’ s new album Reduxer on Tidal...
Sheryl Crow - The Globe Sessions , an album that highlights her rockier side.
The fifth disc from the Bobbie box, this time focussing on the Southern Soul monster that is Touch 'Em With Love.
The bonus material (mostly jazz-flavoured) is astonishingly good, and would have made a five-star album on its own; and once again, the demos are pristine and fully-formed. Harmonically, everything is there - it's as if Bobbie conceives her songs with all the arrangements, rhythms, instruments and orchestration already planned out in her mind.

A lovely performance yesterday at Union Chapel's Daylight Music session, Emilie played tunes from her new album.

Following a break of almost three years since the release of her debut album, ‘Like Water Through The Sand’, French pianist / composer Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch returns with the stunning ‘Époques’, her sophomore album for FatCat’s pioneering 130701 imprint. Witnessing an increased assurance and dynamism in both Emilie’s playing and composing, ‘Époques’ marks a big step forward for the London-based artist. A bold and adventurous album that alternates between passages of emotive, sinuous solo piano; stirring compositions for viola and cello and some beautifully sprawling electronics, it has been masterfully pieced together to further reveal a unique and intelligent sense of artistry, and a composer who really does deserve your full attention.
