Recession Blues
The Hoax paying a fine 35 minute tribute to BB King. Sadly, it seems they won't be making any more music together, they were a wonderful outfit who I had never listened to before until our very own Ewemon flagged this album up. I've now managed by hook and by crook to obtain all their albums which are a great statement to the quality of British Blues rock. This album was given to me by Jon Amor from the band who, when I told him how hard (impossible) it was to get it just mailed me the CD. Great blokes, great blues, great music played the right way with passion.
That reminds me I need to keep looking out for this.

Eoin, there are no more copies out there. I you are interested then you could contact me on the Naim Wall and I could point you in the right direction....
Bill Evans - Consecration vol 2. Recorded during his last performances at Keystone Corner, San Francisco, between 31 August and 7 September 1980. Still playing with energy and feeling.
Paul Hanmer - Trains To Taung
Don't know what it is but my system is sounding turbo-charged tonight. Paul Hanmer's piano sounds stunning!
That this is a wonderfully recorded and produced album does of course help.
My second play of this. Norah seems to like experimenting with slightly different styles on her albums but I must say I'm finding that I like them all.
Now Playing.........
John Scofield - Combo 66
John Scofield (guitar), Vincete Archer (double bass), Gerald Clayton (keyboards) and Bill Steward (drums).
Streaming on TIDAL.......... A new release from September 28, 2018 and taking it out for a spin. John & the members of the quartet are sounding mighty fine!

A brilliant album. I was lucky enough to get a copy when it came out.

Rare as hens teeth but good luck.
Queen - A Night At The Opera.
Hungarian Horizon: Valentina Tóth, piano
Béla Bartók (1881-1945): 14 Bagatelles, Sz.38 op. 6 | 3 Hungarian Folksongs from Csik, Sz.35a
Zoltán Kodály (1882-1967): 7 Piano Pieces op. 11 | Dances of Marosszék
You would only pursue this recording if Bartók and Kodály are a usual part of your musical vernacular. For those who do, this is a special album. Captured extraordinarily well this young artist is as fresh and musical as one could imagine or hope for. Unusual is her gift to create music as imagined by her insight and not just a meaningless repeat of what others might do or what others have said it should be. Sometimes with those who just play the notes their can be a lack of clarity as to any musical meaning. Not here. The Hungarian / Dutch blood that fires her soul is very convincing and genuine.

Last night, as a result of Loki jnr being inspired by 'Pete's' (Swain, apologies Peter) playing of Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, famille Loki is enjoying an FM moment. Thus, Greatest Hits followed by Pious Bird of Good Omen. The first time I've heard Albatross in decent stereo ( I remember endless lops of airplay in 69). I had no idea of FM's early blues roots, quite a revelation. All on vinyl of course.
Tonight: Fleetwood Mac's Rumours. Evergreen.
Marcus Bonfanti - Hard Times, a great album of contemporary blues, this is his debut from '09.
Some lovely chilled 60’s Jazz from Duke Pearson and his all star band, the album Sweet Honey Bee streaming on Tidal
Kenny Drew - Undercurrent.
Ella Fitzgerald - Sings The Irving Berlin Songbook.
The freeview ad featuring Free Love Freeway as written by the legendary David Brent.
I knew I’d heard it before!
