What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Heard a track from this one at the recent London show
Some great playing on it !
Lew Soloff (t), George Young (s), David Matthews (p), Charnett Moffatt (b), Steve Gadd (d)
Elles Springs - Reveal, Original vinyl
Another play for my current favourite, Elles has a voice to die for, writes brilliant meaningful songs, sings them with passion and intelligence, Mark plays great dobro, this is a wonderful singer songwriter album.
Paul Weller > True Meanings
I remember when this one came out; my roommate got back from a trip into town and an obligatory visit to Pitchfork records with a copy of Let's Dance.
We stuck it on my Technics turntable and with a 1, 2, 3 of Modern Love, China Girl, and Let's Dance, there was no way we were going to be anything but blown away by it. It was Bowie, but not as we had known him up until then. This was very different to the DB we knew so well from Hunky Dory and Low. But it was great, all the same, and it got played a LOT. Of course I just had to have my own copy, but I waited until I was back visiting family in the UK before picking up this very LP from the local record shop. The sticker in the bottom left corner indicates that I must have treated it with Last - I have no idea whether the science behind Last was sound but it seems to have worked (or at least not done any harm) because in spite of having been much played, there's very little noise and no noticeable signs of wear. More to the point, the sheer impact of the album is totally undiminished. The B side has a gem too - one of Bowie's best (and a cover to boot) - Criminal World.
The Kinks - Black Album Side 4 from the Mono collection box set - vinyl
Fancied listening to Days before bed, so listening to a disc from this fantastic box set. Ray is a great singer songwriter, these are great pop/rock songs, and the playing is excellent, fine SQ from this great set. And Days is one of my favourite songs ever.
Ike Quebec - Soul Samba.
Eumir Deodato – Daybreak. Vinyl
When I started playing this album, I thought, this isn’t very good, a bit naff. However, by the end I’d changed my mind. I now like it, very much.
It was recorded in the mid 70’s but, it sounds like something from the 60’s. Recommended if you like pop/folk/jazz/phych fusion.
A perfect way to unwind late in the evening
Franz Schubert (1797-1828): Dora Deliyska, piano
4 Impromptus, Op. 90 D 899
Hungarian Melody D 817
Fantasia in C major "Wanderer Fantasy," Op. 15 D 760

OUD say so?
I was fortunate to hear this masterpiece in a live concert.
After getting and posting his live album here, I took ewemon's suggestion and ordered this as well...arrived yesterday.
Joe Bonner - Devotion
Solo jazz piano by Joe Bonner.
Haven't played this for years and was surprised how good it was.
Javon Jackson, A Look Within. Modern hard-bop with a wide range of material.
Vladimir will always have a special place for me...
Playing on Compact Disc on the brilliant Value for money Naxos label - Very nice Vivaldi Oboe Concerti

Thought about this one when I read this so it's playing now: Iggy Pop > The Idiot
Playing on Compact Disc - Brilliant album by Depeche Mode from 1993

I am stuck inside with a stinking cold so thought I would listen to some of the 'Orrible 'Oo to cheer me up. I haven't listened to this - one of the earliest career surveys of its kind - in ages...
