Kandace Springs - Indigo

This is a bit more of a 'slow burn' than her first album Soul Eyes, which is more immediately impactful and accessible. Indigo is starting to get under my skin though. I am glad she has broadened her horizons and resisted the temptation to bring out a Soul Eyes 2.

Listened to it on Tidal waiting for my CD to arrive must agree on your comments nice to hear the changes from her first album.

Wayne Shorter - Emanon

Listening to the quartet (Danilo Perez - piano, Patitucci - bass and Brian Blade on drums) live in london set.

Hi Jeroen,

What's your verdict. I kept away from this one, so far...

Brilliant 2-CD compilation (1996) of Leiber & Stoller's wonderful Red Bird label. Superb hits from the like of The Dixie Cups, Ad-Libs, Tippie & The Clovers, Bessie Banks, Shangri-Las, Alvin Robinson, Dee Dee Warwick, etc.

Hi Bert,

I think it's very good. This is a 3 CD set. The second and third disc are from a live concert the quartet did in London. The playing is really good during that concert. Disk 1 combines the quartet with a chamber orchestra. That works out well and shows that Shorter is also a good composer. However, I prefer the quartet only setting of disc 2 and 3.

Regards, Jeroen.

The album through which I discovered this hugely talented lady.  For quite a while I thought it was her best but I think her latest album, Stay Lucky, just shades it. That said, Fires includes Nerina's signature song Sophia which is very special and very emotional.

Triggered by the recent post. Emotional rescue a great stones song, the rest of the album is also not bad...

Playing on Compact Disc - Haven't played it for ages and forgot what a lovely album it is - I dug up a diamond is my favourite.Love the way Emmylou sings very slightly behind Mark's vocals on that track.I once asked a musical friend about this effect and it's called wrapping.
