On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Ben Harper - Both Sides Of The Gun.
A 2XCD issue, the first is the folk rock Ben with whom we are familiar, whilst the second one is funkier, and shows just how versatile
and talented this chap is.
Great album.
Playing on Vinyl - What better way to kick back and unwind on a Friday night than this beauty from The Rastafarians from 1981
After Jeroen had posted this the other day I decided I'd join him. I searched all over for my copy, which I was unable to locate. Hence, I had to buy another copy! An album of several flavours, but some fine playing nonetheless.
Sergei Prokofiev (1891-1953): Franziska Pietsch, violin | Detlev Eisinger, piano
Violin Sonata No. 1 in F minor, Op. 80
Violin Sonata No. 2 in D major, Op. 94b
Cinq Mélodies, Op. 35b
(October 5th)
Masana Temples
Kikagaku Moyo's latest and fourth album feeding us more wonderful psychedelic rock, just having my second listen (back to back) and there are no disappointments here picking up where they left off in the studio three years ago.
From his last performances just a week or so before his death. Still wonderful playing.
3 cd set which consisted of the whole of Made in Japan tour gigs. SQ was pretty good to unlike the Made in Japan deluxe set.
Jimmy Rogers All Stars - Blues Blues Blues.
An all star assembled cast, which includes Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, Steven Stills, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page,
Taj Mahal and Jeff Healy, for what proved to Jimmy Rogers' final album, as, sadly, he died before it's release.
A fine album from one of the original Chicago greats.
Amy MacDonald - Under Stars
Why? - Because I have just finished another dull week at the office and need waking up before going grocery shopping with SWMBO!
Beirut. This is the version with the extra 'Lon Gisland" cd.
I love the song Elephant Gun and have the brass riff as a ringtone.

That is one-hell-of-a weird album cover.
The Dresden Dolls...
Very minimalistic cabaret- esque music from this duo but Amanda is clearly the creative force.
Charlie Haden & John Taylor - Cully Jazz festival.
Charlie Haden (bass); John Taylor (piano).
Checking out the newest addition on livejazzlounge.com
This CD was playing n the car as I took the highway to Hull this morning
Why? Good driving music, a mix of Southern and country rock containing the unappreciated classics of the title track and Freeborn Man. Real sh*tkicking music. (Should wish to undertake such a strange occupation...)

Roxy Music - Flesh + Blood.
Some smooth choons from the masters of lounge music ............ "there's a band playing on the (radio)".
Always engaging...
