What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
A very modern album which combines chamber music, hip hop with jazz. Sounds like it doesn’t work together but in a strange way it does. Gives the ND555 a nice bass workout...

That is one-hell-of-a weird album cover.
Just what I thought.
Having been playing loads of albums today but thought I'd post this one. I eagerly anticipated its release. On first listen I was struck by Kandace's new style. I quite liked it but it wasn't a Soul Eyes mark II. A few further plays and it still wasn't quite wooing me. But I've preserved and, yes, that is now paying off. This evening I'm really warming to this. So well done, Kandace Springs, you've had the courage to try something new as a follow up to a stunning debut album and I'm (finally) appreciating it.

My thoughts exactly Mike. Artists that continue down the same (immediately accessible) path can often end up boring the listener. So I would suggest others don't be put off by the change in direction, and perseverance will bring its own reward to the listener. Or not, of course.
Prefab Sprout - Steve McQueen, a wonderful album, superbly produced by Thomas Dolby.

Bert ,
If you haven't heard this album you should give it a stream.I can imagine it will sound stunning on your ND 555. The first track Lounging is brilliant.Just a really nice album.Seeing your posting of your album made me think of this as its an infusion of very mellow hip hop with jazz.

Yes, Nigel. And in fairness I think you got there slightly ahead of me with this particular album.

Every time I see that album cover I think it's Michael Carrick on the front of the bike. Maybe he has two careers.

BTW, Chris. It doesn't seem right for you to have no avatar so I'm going to suggest one:
Not bad in his day, and that's from a Pompey fan!

Last album of the evening. One of my favourite DS albums, though I always struggle to read the red writing on blue cover. Hey, ho.
