What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
One of my fav Honky Tonk Outlaw artists
Another one of my fav Country artists.
David Gilmour. On An Island (2006). On re-issued vinyl from 2015. Relaxing and trippy with much guitar virtuosity to be appreciated.
A fantastic example of LA Honky Tonk music.
He recorded an album once with members of Little Feat and the Black Crowes which was produced by Chris Robinson but the tapes never saw the light of day.
It's been a while since I listened to MM's Blue Note. Hank's Mobley's Bag's Groove both in 33 and 45. ( borrowed from a friend )
45's definitely sounds more real and tactile due to improved dynamic contrasts and added textures and colours. Piano still sounds muffled, however.
Listening again to Roger Waters' album from last year, goodness knows why - it's his most politically bitter rant yet. It's also depressingly negative. Hey ho, mustn't grumble!
Janine Jansen - Bach: Concertos
janine Jansen uses a small chamber group to play the Bach concertos. The result is very nice.
Playing on Vinyl on Rounder Records 1985 - Raucous Rock @ Roll By Barrance Whitfield and The Savages
Richard Thompson "13 Rivers", because I'm going to see him on Thursday in Nottingham.
Playing on Vinyl on Delmark Records 1971 - Fabulous Chicago Blues by Jimmy Dawkins
first listen - Qobuz, sounds promising.

The parent album didn't really do it for me, this is an entirely different matter.

Bailyhill posted:I don't remember anyone reporting back having listened to the Naim Records or the Naim CD#1 boxed set. Why is no one listening? Is CD just in pre-order stage? Hard to tell by the web page. I assume the vinyl has been out.
Bailyhill
You can buy the box set or buy the CD's individually. Since no other curated box set appeared since 'Black Box #1' perhaps it was not a commercial success and 'Black Box #2' will never appear, or perhaps it is under development and the famous Naim secrecy of not discussing product under development is in play.......... anyway, there are some very nice albums in the black box set including.......
Now Playing...........
Charlie Haden & John Taylor - Nightfall
Charlie Haden (Bass) and John Taylor (piano)
Streaming on NAS........... the question from BAILYHILL prompted me to play 'Nightfall' which is a fantastic album that I have not given a spin in awhile. Charlie & John are sounding mighty fine this Tuesday morning!
Time for a bit of Chuckles. His best solo album, I think. Sounds amazing, especially in 24/96 on Blu-ray:
The Who - Live At Leeds.
Much mid-afternoon LOUDNESS, chez Dave, and why not?
No excuses ever needed to play this classic album.
Now playing..........
Antonio Forcione - Ghetto Paradise
Antonio Forcione (guitar, classical guitar , nylon string guitar, steel guitar), Trilok Gurtu (drums, Shaker, Tabla), Kai Eckhardt de Camargo (Fretless Bass), Ansuman Biswas (Overtone, Vibraphone), Bosco DeOliveira (Percussion, Timbales), Nic France (drums), Ed Jones (saxophone), Davide Mantovani (bass, synthesizer horn), and Roberto Manzin (alto saxophone).
Streaming on NAS........... taking out Antonio and friends for a spin. Always enjoyable and a wonderful way to begin the day!
From what might well be the album of the year (I know it's mostly old stuff, but there are 75 unreleased tracks). First disc ("Ode to Billie Joe"). Fabulous, fabulous stuff, with the bonus cuts revelatory.
More from the Bobstress, The Girl From Chickasaw County. Second disc ("The Delta Sweete"). Jaw-droppingly good. As far as I'm concerned, she's up there with Kate Bush (a very different artist, of course).

Yes, Clive. I find that album hard to warm to because of its depressive undertone. Waters must be hard work at times.
Fancied a blast before dinner.....
After quite a hard day at work today I thought I would kick this evening off with some Crowded House.

On another Kabin like forum I referred to it as a waste of two 180g slabs of vinyl and a steaming t@@d of a record. I also suggested it might need to go to the charity shop to reduce the risk of ever playing it again! It is utterly dreadful. IMHO, of course.
