What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
I'm really loving this 2 CD Anthology by one of my most favourite Blues artists of all time - Snowy White
Traditional, but nice
Back to Her Bobness. From the marvellous The Girl from Chickasaw County box set, and the Touch 'Em With Love chapter/disc. The bonus tracks include songs recorded for the 'lost' 'jazz album'. These are stunning - what a thing of beauty that album would have been had it been finished!
Giving my system a good work out...
Sohn - Tremors
Excellent stuff on this one.
Billy F Gibbons - The Big Bad Blues.
The Reverend get back to his blues beginnings with this storming album ................. which I can now listen to as a CD rip, rather than
streaming via Tidal, as my HDX is back home today, having been completely re-Naimed. Phew!
Sadly neither Trouble nor TIL the sun turns black are on either Tidal or Qobuz. Annoying omission
Lee Morgan - The Cooker
Recorded in 1957 when Lee Morgan was only 19!
- Baritone Saxophone – Pepper Adams
- Bass – Paul Chambers
- Drums – Philly Joe Jones
- Piano – Bobby Timmons
- Trumpet – Lee Morgan
Vince Gill - Down to my Last Bad Habit, WAV CD rip
@Ewemon kindly suggested a couple of Vince Gill albums when I mentioned I was a country music neophyte. 1st of the two discs to arrive, and it’s a beauty, plaintive and upbeat songs, sung with deep feeling, played by a top notch band. Brilliant country album, and a top-class album of any form.
Bentley Caldwell
The Place That I Call Home
Nothing needs to be said about this album on the forum, stunning album.
Edward
Kurt Vile - Bottle It In
Why? My bestie suggested I give it a spin. Could be worth a second listen.
Playing on Compact Disc - Going to see them tomorrow so time to get familiar as they will be playing most if not all of it.
Fancied a bit of Roxy to being the evening. Siren will do nicely.
Bentley Caldwell - The Place That I Call Home - Tidal
Joining Edward, love this album, must get a copy.
Spiritual jazz, great...
Jackie Leven - Forbidden Songs Of The Dying West. I discovered Jackie around 18 years ago after I kept reading glowing reviews of his albums. Finally, I heard a couple of his songs on a Cooking Vinyl CD compilation - Farm Boy and Some Ancient Misty Morning - which I thought were wonderful. I've since bought all his albums ( and there's a lot of them!). Tends to get filed under folk, but there's a bit more going on than just folk music.
Albert Lee - Hiding, his debut album, which contains what might be the definitive version of "Country Boy".
Vince Gill
Guitar Slinger - CD Rip
This was another great recommendation from Ewemon, Vince was a new artist to me at the time, great album.

Cocteau Twins - Aloysius (from ‘Treasure’)
It’s not possible to reach peak Cocteau Twins. It is, however, possible to be floored by just how exceptional this whole album is, this track being one of the (many) highlights. Sublime.
I saw the Cocteau's at Newcastle City Hall in the summer of '84. Wall of sound ...erm sound with Liz Frasers vocals was quite an experience. 'Caroline's Fingers' is my fave tune albeit on a later album. I used to have them all on vinyl....why did I sell it all in the mid 90s?

Vinyl released 1977 - Great album. 8)
Ry Cooder - The Prodigal Son.
