On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.

London Grammar - If You Wait

Why? Well to be honest is was on 'L' on the artist listing on my iPad when listening to Lizz Wright above and then saw these guys and gal. Considering their tender years judging by the album photo, this is a sophisticated and atmospheric piece of work. Next time I visit 'L' on my iPad I think it will be to listen to this again.

Steve, this is a favourite of mine. The track that always gets me is 'First of July', but they are all belters IMHO.

I can't disagree Nigel a really fine album, I made the 'belter' comment about the first track 'Be With Me" because I had momentarily forgotten just what a powerful piece it is, once again it smacked me right between the eyes, great stuff.

Boz Scaggs - A Fool To Care

Why? Well sometimes only a bit of Boz will do, but ably assisted on this one though.

The Black Angels - Passover

Because I'm in the mood for some dark psychedelic rock themed around the Vietnam war, this was their debut album with heavy nods towards the likes of Velvet Underground. I should add that when he chooses to do so, their frontman does a fine job of sounding like Jim Morrison.

"If Jim Morrison had ever gotten depressed and started a psychedelic hard-rock/blues band, then the result might sound something like Black Angels." - An anonymous Amazonian

Vassilis Tsabropoulos’s ECM debut from 2000. Very good indeed.

Don Williams, I've seen Don Williams at a concert just made it look so easy, sounded outstanding.

LP - EMI 2014 reissue : )

My first ever listen to a George Harrison album and i'm dipping into the 12 album box set setting off in chronological order.

I know this debut album is really a worldly and mind expanding motion picture soundtrack, but for 1967 George was two decades ahead of his time for knowing what an SBL wall would look like : )

I should have added, what a lovely surprise at track 11: a cover of Led Zep's Thank You, and beautifully done.
