Rorys death still makes me sad. What a talent he was and such a nice guy from what I have seen and read about him. Here is a video that always amazes me for talent ....Rory at the Marquee in London doing I could have had Religion (you where probably there ).....Rory was just 24......playing with the confidence of someone way older.....genius
Thanks for sharing this TC. He's still my favourite live performer. Never seen anything to compare since.
Turned up in the post this morning another fine album from Vince.
Kenny Burrell - Midnight Blue, a classic.
Now playing...........
Hoff Ensemble - Quiet Winter Night - an acoustic jazz project
Jan Gunnar Hoff (piano), Mathias Eick (trumpet), Børge Petersen-Øverleir (guitar), Annbjørg Lien (nyckelharpa and hardanger fiddle),
Arild Andersen (double bass), Rune Arnesen (percussion) and vocals by Helene Bøksle, Åsne Valland Nordli, Sondre Bratland, Unni Wilhelmsen, Tomine Harket, Bjørn Johan Muri, Cecilia Vennersten and Bjørn Eidsvåg.
Streaming on TIDAL.......... a mention from JEROEN20 above and the image on the cover pulled me right in. There was a full moon that rose over the cascade mountains last evening that I found to be a striking image. Mine a moon over a city landscape vs the dark winter forest. Nothing to do with music but the power of a fine album cover can attract someone to give an album a spin. ....... and in this case the music meets the expectation (anticipation) in my mind and is a double bonus!
Playing on Compact Disc - My only Mansun album but worth having for the superb opener The Chad who loved me
Again revisited this album, great...
Nice driving jazz album...

Do yourself a favor, get it in high resolution audio, it will shine even more.

A wonderful, quirky, gem of an album. Has some classic “air horn” riffs on it too.

Great session, Tony. Well played sir!!
Heard Kacey singing live on Radio 2 this morning reminded me to play this excellent album.
(2012)
Sometimes you just can't beat a bit of Ludwig Van and this is one of those times, his epic 9th symphony played wonderfully well by the Netherlands SO fronted by Jan Willem de Vriend. A totally recommended complete symphonies hybrid SACD box set.
On CD:-
Eddi Reader - Sings the Songs of Robert Burns
On CD:-
Richard Thompson - 13 Rivers
McCoy Tyner - New York reunion

I'm revisiting the music of my youth, stir up a few old memories and tonight I'm mainly in an INXS mood:
