On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

Blimey, that is a good shout not listened to this for far too long, thanks!

...and to close the afternoon listening session, my favourite album from the initial set of vertigo/philips releases.
1969 - what a vintage year! 15 years old, ‘O’ levels in June, bought this album as a Christmas pressie to self! My mother was horrified by the depraved album cover, which had to disappear from our lounge before the arrival of any guests! Great music though, good to see the liner notes again after so many years (I foolishly sold all my vinyl in the mid 80s when I’d married, started a family, taken on a big mortgage and ‘fallen out’ with hi-fi).
Hanging my head low, but they had a couple of good pop ditties back in the day...
I actually loved the synths on Overture running into 'Shooting Star' on the eponymous first album in the 70's which I had on cassette. Strongly suspect Thereza Bazar's voice enticed me as a youngster.
The missus is enjoying it anyway....I think....
Richard Thompson - 13 Rivers, vinyl (without the Riesling)
Saw the old boy in York last night, he’s in stellar form, a wonderful gig, and it reminded me how high quality this new album is, the songs held up well with his classics.
Chris Stapleton - Traveller
Great stuff.

Just as well you didn't have Electric Ladyland then, Timmo. Mum wouldn't have liked that album cover at all!
Only got time to squeeze in one album before Champions League this evening so have gone for LZIV. Why? I heard a few tracks from it at a friends earlier today. They sounded mighty fine and that whetted my appetite.
Aged vinyl
Why? Come over all hippy nostalgia all of a sudden.

That was another one sold for £1! ????

Great stuff.
One of my very favorites. Think I will go play it.
Bailyhill
(1969)
Ssssh
Alvin Lee and his very fast fingers fronting up Ten Years After on this thirty three minute album, those were the days!
The Beatles - Rubber Soul. CD rip 2009 remaster)
Continuing with my Beatleathon in order of release. This was the LP which truly caught my attention and I played it over and over until I had enough cash to buy Revolver! The Fab4 moving forward creatively with dazzling brilliance - Norwegian Wood, Michelle, Nowhere Man, Girl, and the reflective In My Life - my all time fav Beatle track. Achingly brilliant from start to finish.
Leonard Cohen - Popular Problems
Like a fine wine or a single malt whisky, his voice just got richer and more textured with age. This is such a great recording, it captures those gravelly tones beautifully.
(1984)
Couldn't Stand The Weather
Kicking on with another wonderful late great guitarist, Stevie Ray Vaughan with the Double Trouble band. His take on Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Chile (slight return) is a wonder to hear and worth the album entry fee on its own.
Mike McGear - McGear, from '74 ,many like to think of this as a long lost Wings album.
The Beatles - Revolver. CD rip 2009 remaster)
Until I bought this boxed CD set, this and Sgt P were nearly always the LPs I’d reach for, and even though a new appreciation is now building for first few albums, for me, this is the one - utterly perfect, even with Ringo singing Yellow Submarine.!

Great shout, I'm going to put this on too.

"Achingly brilliant" - a perfect description.
