On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Kevin-W posted:On CD. I haven't heard this in absolutely ages - it was quite the thing to be playing back in 1990. Sill sounds very good.
Must watch that movie again soon.
A random dip into my Mary Black collection. By this album Mary had moved a fair way from her folksy beginnings.
Ben Harper And The Blind Boys Of Alabama - There Will Be A Light
Wonderful, but only if you like Bluesy Soul served up with a large dollop of Gospel.
Ben Harper and the Blind Boys of Alabama - Live at the Apollo.
Nigel, have you tried this one yet?
Available for pennies on The River ................... Erm, sorry!

Listening to the purity of Cara's singing is a great way to de-stress.
Nigel, being retired and listening to Cara Dillion is about as stress free as it gets.
Not a stressful day compared to those that are not retired, but was in the thick of it with the chainsaw today ......Cara is new to me, the vocals are lovely. Will investigate further.
Anything you say Gazza, now put the chainsaw down.
BTW, my favourite Cara Dillon album is her latest, Wanderer, so I suggest you include a listen to this in your investigation.
Great recommendation Nigel.....I will buy this one. ????

Magic album, despite been Irish I’d never heard of Cara until I discovered her on this forum, she seems to be better known in the Uk

Hi Dave, yes I have this one too. Ben Harper and The Blind Boys of Alabama really seem to gel musically.
Praise the Lawd.
Primal Scream - Screamadelica - Box Set.
4 CD set with the original album re-mixed, the Dixie Narco EP, disc three featuring a range of remixes, and the final one with
the audio from a live show at the Hollywood Palladium.
This is an essential purchase for all lovers of the original album, and Primal Scream fans in general .............. highly recommended.

Ah the 90’s, it’s all a blur (pardon the pun)
An old favourite album of mine which never disappoints.
Paul McCartney - Kisses On The Bottom.
(1995)
Alive in America
This is a super 'Dan album and as ever the sound quality is superb totally unaffected by it being recorded live, just a lovely hour or so of some of the boys finest tracks.
"For those looking for a quality Steely Dan live recording then look no further than this collection recorded over 20 years ago....Walter and Donald have their critics but nobody is arguing the fact that they don't know a good tune and that they know how to assemble good musicians to help spread their music to their legion of fans. Like the current live line up, the Steely Dan Citizen Orchestra of 93/94 just oozes quality and class and they bring all the tracks on this collection to life."
Tracklist
Babylon Sisters | 6:47 |
Green Earrings | 5:20 |
Bodhisattva | 5:47 |
Reelin' In The Years | 6:24 |
Josie | 6:12 |
Book Of Liars | 4:19 |

Third World Man | 6:38 |
Kid Charlemagne | 5:16 |
Sign In Stranger | 6:34 |

Well spotted, Dan, good knowledge.
Kevin-W posted:On CD, because I wanted to listen to something majestic, which Duke's orchestra in full flow always is.
I have the MFSL version of this set and the sq is to die for.

If you like this then you have to start listening to any Blind Boys album on the Real World label (personally I would startwith Spirit of the Century a fabulous album) and also The Holmes Bros
Currently listening to some official unreleased live recordings of Chris Stapleton.

Great Artist
My favorite. Any chance of getting a copy of the live recordings? I assume no rights on them?
Bailyhill
Now playing the soundtrack to The Graduate.

Spirit of the Century Tidalised. Looking forward to hearing it.
Gazza, glad you are enjoying some of my posts tonight, but to be quite honest most of the stuff I post has been recycled. I am just glad to be able to partially repay all the many great finds I happen across on this fine forum. This is, IMHO, the most rewarding thread on the entire forum. No good having a top notch system if you don't have music you love to play on it.
PS, the above post from Ewemon reminds me, if you haven't already, I strongly recommend you investigate Chris Stapleton, no need to be picky, all his albums are belters.
