On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
(2009)
Shpongle - Ineffable Mysteries from Shpongleland
Some rocked up psychedelic ambient, dance and trance by Simon Posford and Raja Ram's rather wonderful Shpongle project. These 'old boys' kicked off in '98 and are still going strong, good stuff that I love to dig into every now and again.
Thievery Corporation, Sounds from the Thievery HiFi, dub reggae meets electronica from this US duo, streaming on Tidal. I prefer the ‘This Cosmic Game’ album but this is good stuff too

I had that album on clear vinyl in a numbered sleeve. I sold it about 10 years ago, when I was temporarily unemployed, for £150!
I had this on cassette when I knew no better..................

Richard has always been a very creative force and, as this album shows, it is really worth looking for an original pressing and re-investing on it, Kev. Bargain these days for around 80 quid for a near mint copy.
Don McLean. American Pie. On original vinyl from 1971. The title track is a timeless classic and I suppose everyone's favorite Don McLean song. I played this album tonight because I had a hankering to hear "Vincent", my second-favorite McLean song. Love the marimba.
Van Morrison. Moondance (1970). On early re-issued vinyl circa 1973. An artistic fusion of jazz, pop, soul, and Irish folk. A classic in its time and place that plays perfectly fresh today.
An old favourite. Alto, jazz trio, strings, Billie Holiday tunes.
Ac/Dc Live with Bon Scott.

Currently listening to some official unreleased live recordings of Chris Stapleton.
Great Artist
My favorite. Any chance of getting a copy of the live recordings? I assume no rights on them?
Bailyhill
No chance whatsoever I am afraid and there are no plans to release them as far as I am aware.
Original vinyl released 1969 - Superb debut album, superb band. ????
Sebastian Knauer - Bach & Sons
Playing on Compact Disc - Really nice album by the Bhundu Boys
Louis Hayes - Serenade for Horace
Personnel: Louis Hayes: drums and leader; Abraham Burton: tenor saxophone; Josh Evans: trumpet; Steve Nelson: vibraphone; David Bryant: piano; Dezron Douglas: bass. (Gregory Porter, vocalist, on Song for My Father.”)
Tony Joe White - The Best Of.
Appropriately enough,............................. R.I.P. Tony Joe.
Playing on Compact Disc - Always great hearing Stargazer again.A truely epic song and what a Ritchie Blackmore solo
Albion, You'll Be Mine.
I am loving this new album from Polish proggers Albion. Lovely accented female vocals from Anna Batko, Guitar and keys from Jerzy Antczak are wonderful. This whole album flows very well.
Recorded live in November 2002 at the Astoria Theatre, Caravan with For Girls Who Grew Plump In The Night. This totally takes me back to the original releases when I was in short trousers. Brilliant album, which was first brought to my attention by young Dan Steel of this parish. Currently playing the exellently titled track A Very Grubby Smelly Little Oik. Excellent stuff indeed.
