On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

Tommy Flanagan - "Beyond The Birdland" (2008) Lewis Nash - drums; Kenny Burell - guitar; George Mraz - bass; Tommy Flanagan - piano
It's been a hectic few days. What better way to unwind than with my favourite pop lady? This is the "Fancy" disc/chapter from The Girl From Chickasaw County box.

La Patrie Overture almost sounds too fast...

Oliver Nelson - The Argo, Verve and Impulse big band studio sessions

Smoooooth, a great way to ease into Sunday

Always nice to hear how good these older recordings sound, very often competing with modern ones.

Two-disc compilation of the work of Atlantic's Mr Smooth. Some dreck on here, but more than compensated for by some masterworks.

Teddy Edwards - "Teddy's Ready" (1960) Joe Castro - piano; Billy Higgins - drums; Leroy Vinnegar - bass; Teddy Edwards - tenor sax

CD 2007 Mentioned a few day ago. Reminded me to give a listen.

Enjoying a bit of Joni Mitchell. A nice recording of her live performance though re-reading the sleeve notes today I was rather surprised to discover that this is from 1974!

CD 1990

Bonkers-but-briliant live album, on CD.

Pancho Sanchez - "Bailar: A Night Live with ......" (1993)
Playing on Vinyl - Haven't played this for 30 years and it's pleasant enough listening

Terry Riley's son Gyan gets all virtuosic on guitar and ukelele on a 2018 CD:

Myra Melford - "The Same River, Twice" (1996) great pianist, great compositions, improvisation leans to the freer side.
