On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Should appeal to fans of The Jam and Bruce of course
Stunning recording
Pete Townsend and Ronnie Lane - Rough Mix, a fine collaboration with a few "heavy" friends helping out.

Enjoying one of Elton John's best albums, in my view. For most people I suspect it's Candle In The End that this album is mostly remembered for, a view probably re-invigorated after the death of Diana. That's a nice song but for me this album showed EJ's his versatility. And what an opening number? Funeral for a friend (love lies bleeding) showed EJ could do prog rock like the best of them.
The first LP I ever bought and I never tire of it. I think it is his best album - so many good songs over a double LP.
Elvin Jones - Illumination!/Dear John C. I feel that Dear John C from this 2-for-1 Impulse release is exceptionally good. To my ears it's like it has the mood and feel that Sonny Rollins was trying to capture in his The Bridge album. Superb.
I have been playing this one quite a lot recently, it’s somewhere between jazz and pop, really nice

A real foot-tapper album, if every there was one.
Rumour was at the time he had approx 150 songs he had to choose from for the album.
Superb.
Rory Gallagher - Stage Struck, first spin after acquiring at a record fair today.

Gosh. I wonder happened to those that didn't make it?
Annie is sounding particularly lovely this evening.

I saw what you did there, Mike!
One of my all time favourite albums. Brings back so many memories.
Greg Lake - In Concert, a decent selection of ELP and solo album numbers, the band features Gary Moore on lead guitar.
Now playing.......
Wayne Horvitz Gravitas Quartet - Way Out West
Wayne Horvitz (piano, synthesizer, electronics), Peggy Lee (cello), Ron Miles (trumpet) and Sara Schoenbeck (bassoon).
Streaming on NAS......... taking out an album with some of the horn play of Ron Miles since I am seeing perform tonight wth Brian Blade and Bill Frisell. I have seen the Wayne Horvitz Gravitas Quartet perform on a few occasions with Ron and enjoy them quite a bit. This is a fine album!
Inspired by Drikus's above post. I saw E.G. playing live many moons ago and it was a memorable performance.
CD. Ludwig van Beethoven - Piano Sonatas (Nos. 3, 14, 23, 26 & 32) - Evgeny Kissin

Blast from the past!
Pink Floyd. Wish You Were Here (1975). On CBS half-speed mastered vinyl from 1982. A very early analog-to-digital-to-analog production. Seems like an equation doomed for failure given its time. The result, however, is a true sonic gem!
Eagles. On The Border. On original vinyl from 1974. An important transitional album for the band. Don Felder joins the group, they fire Glyn Johns as producer and hire Bill Szymczyk. The band moves from a country sound to more rock-oriented music that will quickly evolve into their signature California sound.
Rush. Grace Under Pressure. On original vinyl from 1984. My second favorite Rush album to Moving Pictures. The superb bottom-end on this recording provides wonderful depth and dimension to the soundstage. I love "Kid Gloves" and often wonder if Alex didn't lay down his best leads on that track.
Vladimir Feltsman - Bach: the well tempered clavier, book I
Good performance of the well tempered clavier bij Feltsman.
