On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Louis Hayes - Light and lively
Another good one from Louis Hayes. If you like hard bop in a quintet setting, than I can recommend this one.
- Alto Saxophone – Bobby Watson
- Bass – Clint Houston
- Drums – Louis Hayes
- Piano – Kenny Barron
- Trumpet – Charles Tolliver

It's a bit like those Japanese SHMCD LZ discs in the box set - every agrees they sound great, but nobody can figure out why, given that they seem to be taken from the early 90s Marino masters...
I've been very pleased with my box set of those SHMCD Led Zep CDs. Best I've heard on CD, in fact. That said, still not up to the early vinyl pressings, as a vinyl-loving friend is often happy to demonstrate for me.

Albert Lee, just had to play this after hearing his work on Dave Edmunds "Sweet Little Lisa".
Just fancied a listen to the real Fleetwood Mac...
FLEETWOOD MAC Mr. Wonderful (1968 UK first issue 12-track stereo LP on Blue Horizon

It is time people slowed down and appreciate what you have. Look forward but also don't forget the past. Instead, honour and respect it. If something was good in 1830 then why would I choose to ignore it today? If you listen to others and follow the crowd then you probably don't know what is good to begin with. You have to find this on your own. Instead, become informed and follow you heart. (the opposite of socialism).
I get all, and maybe more, than I need from vinyl and CD's. It is the music (and not the latest fake improvements) that drives my passion. (enough said ;-)

Tabby cat, watched a great bio on Gene on Sky Arts recently it might be still up well worth a watch. One of music's great talents lost to a tragic life.
Regards Graham
Thanks for that Graham,
I will try to find it on Youtube as I am not a Sky subscriber.
Yeah Gene had a great voice and it was a sad loss to music when he passed on at 46.

Kamakiriad
Two reasons for playing this one from Donald Fagen, it's a very fine album and the recording and overall SQ put the icing with a big cherry on top of the sonic cake.
Kenny Wheeler - Angel song
This is a very beautiful album. Listening to it in the dark gives it an extra dimension.
Mick Jagger - Primitive Cool, I know there is generally not a lot of love for solo Mick, but there are a number of decent rockers, and Jeff Beck performs well on these
While ripping the totally stripped dvd’s....
Some old Mac from the Green era with some classic songs. I've always loved Man of the World.

Completely agree, Alan. Just 2:49 mins. Wonderful lyrics.

"This is a very beautiful.............." sums it up perfectly - I have listened to it many many times and still love it !!!
(1989)
The End of the Innocence
I've always enjoyed the Eagles and been a big fan of their driving force Don Henley's solo albums. This was yet another well recorded and super album by the songsmith, hard to believe that it's coming up to thirty years old.
Eric Clapton - Slowhand, playing the deluxe edition which includes an excellent selection of songs recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon in April '77 as the bonus disc.
Stones - Some Girls
I'm out tonight with a schoolfriend I haven't seen for forty years. We used to play this in the sixth form common room.
Laurence Hobgood / Charlie Haden / Kurt Elling - When the Heart Dances. Beautiful music, Naim Label too.
Original vinyl released 1972 - Classic Young album. ????
Getting ready for Friday evening, when I’m seeing Tord play live in Southampton. I’m going with Christopher M of this parish, and really looking forward to it. I was a bit dubious about this album at first, but it’s really grown on me.
