On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Something light and fun. It probably has some good advice embedded in the lyrics here too...
John Craigie and Jack Johnson “I Wrote Mr. Tambourine Man (live)” on Tidal
I don’t know how to attach my image. Sorry.
Donald Fagen. Kamakiriad. On original CD from 1993. Bought today, first listen. The music is good, consistent with the latter Dan. The SQ is extraordinary.
Emil Gilels - Edvard Grieg: Lyric pieces
The last album Lester Butler played on before he sadly passed away and a corker it was to. Lester played guitar on this album.
Great bit of California blues
The 2011 Guthrie/Plante master, on CD. You don't really need a reason or justification to play Meddle, do you?
Playing on Cassette on TDK AD - X C60 - Enjoying this House of Love album from 1990 - One of those bands who never quite got as big as they could
Another 2011 CD master. Everyone knows anything knows that Ummagumma is the Floyd's best album, even if the band don't seem to like it much. I think the live half is the greatest live album ever made.
More generally the 1968-71 "faffing about" period is by far the group's most interesting era.

I wish you were here so I could explain how wrong you are face to face .
Bob Marley and the Wailers - Natural Mystic.
So, just as "Legend" was a collection of Bob's singles, this one is a collection of some of his album tracks, and is just the ticket on a
sunny North Yorks. morning.
Playing on Compact Disc - Great Talking Heads recorded at Compass Point Studios with Brian Eno producing

Ha ha yes I share Kevin's love of Pink Floyd, but am relatively uninterested in the pre-Meddle music. Meddle is good on its own but mostly interesting as the source of riffs that they then re-cycled into DSOTM music.

Some old Mac from the Green era with some classic songs. I've always loved Man of the World.
Beautiful song Mike, when I was younger I always thought it was too short, but who am I to argue with Mr Green.
Always leave them wanting more!
Confessing the Blues out I think Nov 9th, pulled together by the Rolling Stones. It covers all the influential blues players they love, some well known, some obscure. Available as LP box set, and 2 cd. Apparently was a task to get these old master tapes so will be interesting in sound quality? 10% of the royalties goes to a blues charity, interesting project. Available on Amazon, hmv etc preorder.

Wouldn't do you any good Eoin. My mind's made up.
Yet another 2011 CD master. Although this was the lowest-selling PF album since 1971, it still got to No.1 in the UK (which DSOTM and The Wall never did). Surely one of the bleakest albums of the 1980s, but a good 'un, which still resonates today, despite its very time-specific references. An absolutely stunning recording too, very dynamic. One of the very best I've ever heard.
Playing on Compact Disc - Live Chilli Peppers - Very good Set with all the big tracks featured

Kev,
Have been playing Obscured by Clouds a bit of late and it did strike me it had the essence of the early Floyd in it.Maybe being a soundtrack album they didn't over produce it compared to the epics which followed - DSOTM - WYWH - Animals - The Wall etc.Not being critical of those albums BTW as they really went up a gear with the production and the creativity.
Wishing you a fine afternoon
Cheers Ian
Enrico Pieranunzi - As never before
Very nice jazz.
- Double Bass – Marc Johnson
- Drums – Joey Baron
- Piano – Enrico Pieranunzi
- Trumpet, Flugelhorn – Kenny Wheeler
Now playing........
Trygve Seim - Rumi Songs
Trygve Seim (soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone), Tora Augestad (vocal), Frode Haltli (accordion) and Svante Henryson (violoncello).
Streaming on NAS......... A recent arrival and kicking off the day with Rumi Songs. I enjoy music and poetry and enjoy when a musician takes on a project to put their interpretation/expression of the poetry into a musical composition. The poetry was written 800 years ago and translated from Persian to English and now wrapped in music in its presentation and I am enjoying it!
Now Playing............
Tord Gustavsen Quartet - Extended Circle
Streaming on NAS............ taking Tord's 'Extended Circle' out for another spin, another recent arrival and I enjoy his music quite a bit!
Playing on Compact Disc - A Brit pop classic from Manchesters The Verve
