On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Playing on Compact Disc - Great album From NYC's Television
Nice to now have the full version...
A lot to enjoy on this greatest hits album...
Don’t own a lot of Bocelli, but that’s why Tidal is great to listen every now and then...
Now playing............
Tony Allen - The Source
Tony Allen (Drums), Mathias Allamane (Bass), Indy Dibongue (Guitar), Jean-Philippe Dary (Piano, Organ), Yann Jankielewicz (Soprano Saxophone, Nicolas Giraud (Trumpet, Flugelhorn), Jean-Jacques Elangue (Tenor Saxophone) Remi Sciuto (Baritone Saxophone, Alto Saxophone, Flute), Daniel Zimmermann (Trombone, Tuba), Damon Albarn (Piano on Cool Cats), and Vincent Taurelle (Clavinet on Life is Beautiful).
Streaming on TIDAL......... a suggestion from a friend so I thought I would take Tony out for a spin. Tony was 77 years old at the time recording and he and the band are sounding mighty fine through the first couple of tracks! Looking forward to the rest of the album.
Playing on Cassette on Maxell UL - S C60 - A pleasant solo debut from his Mozness - Suedehead is worthy of any Smiths album....brilliant
A jazz bass classic, on a nice sounding 1999 Verve CD:
Playing on Cassette on TDK D C60 - Fabulous Funk from Parliament from 1975
The Dame, lost for words on a CD of instrumentals, many culled from his imperial "Berlin period". Stunning.
George Cables - Bluesology
George Cables - Piano; Jay Anderson - Bass; Billy Drummond - Drums
Streaming on Tidal. Alela Diane - The Pirates Gospel (Posted by Ewemon)
Jeroen20 posted:Kenny Wheeler - One of many
- Kenny Wheeler - Flugelhorn
- John Taylor - Piano
- Steve Swallow - Electric bass
Thanks for reminding me I have this one, and have not listened to it for a while - wonderful !!!
(2008)
Hopkinson Smith - Bach L'Oeuvre De Luth
Superb lute playing as ever from HS and wonderful interpretation of these Bach works, CD one of two.
Now playing.......
Amy Wadge - Amy Wadge
Streaming on TIDAL........... taking Amy out for another spin, wonderful vocals, lyrics and music, the opening track 'Scream' pulls you into the album, love it!
Playing on Compact Disc - A fine mixed set by Drum and Bass godfather Goldie of artists on his label
Given how long I've been listening to and collecting Pink Floyd albums I'm somewhat embarrassed to confess that this one, Obscured By Clouds, has until now eluded me. I can't really explain how I missed it.
This is a 'discovery' CD, mastered by Guthrie and Plante.
Rory Gallagher - Stage Struck. Rory Gallagher - Deuce.
A while ago, I owned up to having very little from Van Morrison in my collection, and now, to my shame, I find myself in a similar
position regarding Rory Gallagher.
I'm putting things right, and here's the first of many arrivals due, now ripped and streaming.
The studio album is a perfect example of the Rock / Blues genre, whilst the live one kicks a.. big time!
In for some treats over the next few days if the albums en route are as good as these two.
(1988)
Flag
I can't go too long without a bit Yello and this is one of my favourites that just happens to be thirty years old this year providing I've got my 'rithmetic right tonight!

Dave, you're in for a most enjoyable voyage of discovery, don't overlook his other live albums which is where were he really excelled and captivated his audiences. Get Live In Europe and Irish Tour '74 to give yourself a flavour of some of his best on the road. Cheers.
I've now gone for some more old Floyd. The studio album from Ummagumma.

Cheers, Steve,
Irish Tour, together with Tattoo, incoming as we speak .............. I'll get Live in Europe ordered tomorrow.
Quite embarrassing really, to have to own up to this lack of Rory's music in my collection ............. dreadful oversight on my part.
Kevin W had finally got to me...
