Rory Gallagher - Stage Struck.                      Rory Gallagher - Deuce.

A while ago, I owned up to having very little from Van Morrison in my collection, and now, to my shame, I find myself in a similar

  position regarding Rory Gallagher.

I'm putting things right, and here's the first of many arrivals due, now ripped and streaming.

The studio album is a perfect example of the Rock / Blues genre, whilst the live one kicks a.. big time!

In for some treats over the next few days if the albums en route are as good as these two.

Dave, you're in for a most enjoyable voyage of discovery, don't overlook his other live albums which is where were he really excelled and captivated his audiences. Get Live In Europe and Irish Tour '74 to give yourself a flavour of some of his best on the road. Cheers.

Cheers, Steve,

Irish Tour, together with Tattoo, incoming as we speak .............. I'll get Live in Europe ordered tomorrow.

Quite embarrassing really, to have to own up to this lack of Rory's music in my collection ............. dreadful oversight on my part.

Dave, no need for embarrassment. I missed or avoided so much music and so many bands back in the 60's, 70's, 80's because they didn't seem to be hard enough, cool or up my street so I have gaps in the library that still need filling. The great thing about this thread  is that we can find and enjoy bands and artists who we had previously missed and enjoy them for the first time. It's all good news really and the exploding sausage is going to be officially deployed

(1967)

Why? Because it's a fabulous 'Stones early hits and best of album.

Jamestown Revival - Eduction of a Wandering Man

This has been posted on here before (Ewemon I think) but I have only just got round to a second listen.

Unashamedly 'old school' Country but the superbly crafted choons and the occasional excursions into Blues and Soul keeps this album wonderfully fresh and unique.

Recommended.

They will be Dave, Rory was a fine songwriter, master of the Strat, and as far as I can tell never gave less than his all when playing, great live, and pretty damn good in the studio. Much missed.

Pat Metheny Group - Travels, original vinyl. Currently listening to the mighty 'As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls'. Magnificent!

Thanks for the prompt Clive, I haven’t played this for many years, Original U.K. vinyl now spinning on the Roksan. Magnificent describes it well, jazz fusion of the highest order musically and technically.

If ND555 portrays Live albums as well as the ‘Impressions’ thread suggests you simply MUST spring for ‘Irish Tour’ Dave. It should be a real treat!

It's been an 'interesting' couple of months and this album has been a very therapeutic listen.

Best enjoyed from start to finish and although somewhat heavy and sombre, i've found it a very uplifting album. It's getting another run through now.

Doves - Lost Souls

A very fine album is this. The deluxe version has some nice bonus songs too.

Thanks James, I haven't played any Doves in years I've put this into the playlist.

John Smith - Headlong

His rather wonderful voice reminds me of a laid back Ray LaMontagne.

Its an unusual album cover though.

She is very well presented but she looks incongruous. Its only when I saw the title of the album that I realised the source of her discomfort - she is farting.

Streaming on Tidal.     Janie Cribbs And The T. Rust Band - Queen Of Fire  (Mentioned by Ewemon)

Ryan Montbleau Band - One Fine Clour

I make no apologies for posting this one again. A second listen on Tidal while I wait for my CD to arrive.

Genre? That is a tricky one. How about upbeat Jazzy Bluesy Funky Soul. No that's wrong. Have a listen on Tidal and decide for yourself.

I should add that considering I am listening to this on Tidal, the quality of the recording sounds rather good. Looking forward to the CD.

Thouroughly recommended.

One of my very favourite albums. I’m assuming you’ve read Tracey’s Bedsit Disco Queen. If not, you must.

Tina Dico is a superb singer. The version of "Home" she did with Zero 7 is awesome.
