Enjoying Argus this evening. If Ash has produced a better album than this I'd be grateful if somebody could draw it to my attention.

Mike seeing the Argus cover made me remember the first and only time I saw them.It was around 1980 at Brighton Dome. The opening track was The King Will Come and I was blown away by the guitar sound.I think the guitarist was playing a flying V.

Great gig and next day got Argus as I hadn't heard any of their stuff,Yeah Argus is a great album and has a great deal of atmosphere on tracks like Lay down the sword.

Wishing you a fine weekend......can't see Southampton getting anything with us on Sunday....but miracles do happen..

I'm envious of you, Ian. Ash was a band I always wanted to see and somehow never did.  I suspect Christopher_M will agree with you about the prospects for Sunday's game, albeit gloomily.

Heard them at Basildon civic centre, very loud, wife to be hated it. Argus was a favourite of mine. Must revisit.

Yeah saw them also when Argus was released and to this day it is still one of my favourite albums of all time and by far and away their best.  Went off them after a slight disagreement with them on a tour bus (long story).

I have quite a number of versions of the album.

She is the niece of the Human Resources person who supports my team at work, Her aunt sent me a link to her on YouTube a couple of weeks ago, I liked it enough to download that album. I really like it, classy trad folk, good songs, sung with feeling, I’ll be interested to hear what you think.

All these were my listening today at work, in the car and at home tonight.

Think this maybe the last for the evening but you never know.

Emerson Lake & Palmer - Pictures At an Exhibition, staying with the live stuff .I was always impressed that this was recorded at Newcastle City Hall, our "local" major concert venue at the time, capturing ELP in front of an enthusiastic crowd.

Working my way through this double album set.  I find Rolling Stones' CDs generally of disappointingly flat reproduction quality, and a fair few songs on this album fall into that category, but the music still manages to shine through.

They played Cropredy Festival in 2007, the only time I saw them. By then think Andy Powell was the original member left, but they played all the classic numbers, and how can you go wrong with a lineup with two Flying Vs, visually alone it’s pure rock and roll.

Muscle Shoals, Small Town Big Sound, WAV CD rip

Tribute album to the great music town of Muscle Shoals, largely country artists, with soul, blues and rock, singing the some of the great numbers that came out of the studios in the little town down in the Alabama swamps. My first listen to a release from last week, I waited until the metadata was available online, I’d recommend it strongly, some fantastic versions of classic numbers, with some Swampers and other Shoals session players popping up. Allmans fans will hopefully love Alison Krauss’s version of Come and Go Blues as much as I do.

The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary Edition, 16/44 FLAC download

A Juno £12.49 download, listening for the 2 CD edition the first time, chose the live tracks as they’re new to me. 11 live tracks, 4 of those are God Only Knows! Sound quality quite variable, pretty poor on the  3 1966 Michigan State U tracks, much better on the 4 1967 daughters of the American revolution constitution hall recordings, the sole 1972 Carnegie Hall track has slightly boomy bass but otherwise fine, after that it's 1980s recordings. SQ is a bit irrelevant, the Beach Boys are on fine form in both of the first two gigs, genuinely great songs performed by the young Beach Boys. The ‘80s stuff is fine, but not really needed, I’d have preferred more songs from the two ‘60s gigs. Probably worth the money for the interest, I will listen to the instrumental recordings soon.

Wildwood Kin - Turning Tides,  WAV CD Rip.

Classy young folk rock trio, nice songs, excellent voices and arrangements, well played. They were one of the new acts on the OGWT tribute show earlier this year, I enjoyed their set enough that I ordered this from their website after the show, very pleased I did.
