What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Need to dig out some of his earlier albums as it has too long since I listened to any of his albums.
Little Death Shaker by Raymond Byron and The White Freighter
Vinyl released 2012 - Little Death Shaker is a record evocative of late nights and dusty parking lots, long drives and boozy hookups. ????
Genesis - Trespass, early ‘80s vinyl
Fancied some early prog, and this is great, nice folky proggy goodness leading up to the rocking The Knife. I was addicted to this for a period during my student days, played several times a day, and it still gets me every time.
Just played: Yazoo > Upstairs at Eric's (NAS 16/44.1)
Now playing: Depeche Mode > Speak and Spell (NAS 16/44.1)
2017 - Fast forward a few decades later, on double vinyl, an enchanting album by the incomparable Ryuichi Sakamoto - Async.
A good evening with the queen of soul...
Another nice one...
What a drive and energy on the podium....
Raymond Byron and the white Freighter - Little death Shaker, Tidal
Dan’s description above interested me enough to give this a listen, classy Americana singing about the dark underbelly and bad times, a bleak album with flashes of hope. One to add to my next order.
Tidal. Creedence Clearwater Revival - Willy and the Poor Boys
Tidal. Marianne Faithfull - Negative Capability
Love me some Todd...
Will see him live tomorrow..
Original vinyl released 1982 - kicking the morning off with some fine music from JJ Cale. ????

Wishing you a fine day
Cheers Ian
Still powerful Toscanini/NBC '51 recording of Verdi Requiem with powerful singers to match. No break up or stress anywhere. I can hear Toscanini yelling at the brass section in first movement.
Chorus Master – Robert Shaw
Soprano : Herva Nelli
Mezzo-soprano : fedora Barbieri
Tenor : Giuseppe de Stefano
Bass : Cesare Siepi
Playing on Cassette on TDK C60 - Superb Live Talking Heads
Squeeze - Spot The Difference
Modern reworkings of their greatest hits, made as fifty somethings. Great tunes still standing up. Them too.
Playing on Compact Disc - Always good hearing these classic tunes.
Playing on Cassette on TDK AD - X C90 - A nice Fairport Album the first without Richard Thompson - Still hugely enjoyable
On lovely new yellow vinyl
Stan Getz and Bill Evans - Previously Unreleased Recordings, May 1964.
Miles Davis - '58 Sessions. I have most of these recordings on the 50th anniversary legacy edition of KoB too, but the sound on this disc is superior.
Just Finishing.....
Ketil Bjørnstad and Terje Rypdal - Life in Leipzig
Ketil Bjørnstad (piano) and Terje Rypdal (guitar)
Streaming on NAS............ Started the day with Keith & Terje for the simple fact that this is a beautiful album that I enjoy. Fantastic musicians and wonderful music!
Now playing........
Keith Jarrett, Gary Peacock & Paul Motian - At the Deer Head Inn
Keith Jarrett (piano), Gary Peacock (double bass) and Paul Motian (drums)
Streaming on NAS............ Three fantastic musicians lifting the mood on this damp and foggy morning! Good enough reason to give this album a spin.........
