What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Lindisfarne - Roll On Ruby, their first album after the original band had splintered into two.It now sounds more soft rock than folk rock.
Neil Cowley Trio - The Face of Mount Molehill
A different sort of trio to the Gustavsen trio whom I saw last week. I suspect these guys are more 'out there'.
Vinyl reissue originally released 1975 - Foghat's big time album.????
Carl Craig - Versus
I got a 272 last week and this record is rather good through it! Good combination of electronica and acoustic instruments, and it is becoming apparent to me that the 272 is good at the realism thing. Bass to mess with your internal organs as well...
Having enjoyed The Bridge, which is becoming a bit of a go-to album for me, I've played through all the other Sonny Rollins albums I have, that is Newk's Time, Tenor Madness and now finishing with this one, Saxophone Colossus. I'd forgotten how good these albums are.
I saw this album posted the other night. I've liked his work in The xx so i thought i'd give it a go.
Very good it is too.
Jamie XX - In Colour
Ringo Starr - Beaucoups of Blues, in which Mr Starkey goes country.
Chet Baker Trio - Daybreak - SteepleChase Records SCS 1142 US 1st press.
Another fine record from Chet and from SteepleChase along with Doug Raney and the fine bassist Niels-Henning Orsted Pederson recorded live at Montmartre, Copenhagen October 4th, 1979.
I love the photograph of Chet on the front cover.
GoGo Penguin - v2.0
Possibly my most 'out there' trio, and a great live band.
(1999)
Air - Premiers Symptomes
In great need of something to relax with tonight, this hits the spot...
Now playing..........
Kristjan Randalu - Absence
Kristjan Randalu (piano), Ben Monder (electric guitar) and Markku Ounaskari (drums).
Streaming on NAS........... kicking off Thursday evening with Kristan, a fine trio and I enjoy this album quite a bit!
Original vinyl released 1980 - Bolted together sessions from seperate periods. ????
- Neil Young – guitar, harmonica, piano, vocals
- Greg Thomas – drums
- Dennis Belfield – bass
- Ben Keith – steel and Dobro, harmony vocals
- Rufus Thibodeaux – fiddle
- Ann Hillary O'Brien – harmony vocals
- Levon Helm – drums on "The Old Homestead"
- Tim Drummond – bass on "The Old Homestead"
- Tom Scribner – saw player on "The Old Homestead"
Desert Island Discs on R4. Vanley Burke, Jamaican photographer who was part of the Windrush generation. Burning Spear have just been on.
Nils Frahm - Screws
Playing on Compact Disc - Mysterious and Magic - Timeless debut from REM
Vox Luminis - Bach: Magnificat & Handel: Dixit Dominus
Portico Quartet - knee-deep in the north sea
Quietly as I do a bit of work.
25th anniversary CD. The production (not by Trevor Horn, as commonly assumed, but by his long time engineer Steve Lipson) on this album is so outrageously 80s and over the top that it works (and indeed hasn't dated, unlike so much 1980s crap). And of course the epic "Dream Within A Dream" is One Of The Greatest Things Ever.
"Abba from Hell" indeed...
Sonny Clark - Cool Struttin'
The finest pair of ankles ever to adorn a record sleeve?

Yes Clive, one of those iconic Blue Note album covers
And now posting one of those brilliant covers myself as I am playing Midnight Special by The Incredible Jimmy Smith
