What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
The recent 'To The Bone' album seemed a bit sterile in places, the tracks form it played live here have a completely different energy and on the whole seem far more enjoyable:
Qobuz hi-res download (£10 off for Sublime/Sublime+)
No neighbours around, so time for a bit of late-night Bobbie. The Ode To Billie Joe disc from The Girl From Chickasaw County box.
Now Playing.......
Damien Rice - O
Streaming on NAS......... kicking off Friday evening with Damien Rice, my daughter introduced me to Damien with this album in the early 2000's and I have enjoyed his music and wished he released a few more albums along the way.......
Melissa Etheridge. Yes I Am. On CD from 1993. Twenty-five years-old and still the most assertive, hard driving coming-out album I've ever listened to. Very well done.
Angelique Kidjo cover of Talking Heads Remain in Light - Wow! Very interesting. I wonder what David Byrne thinks?

So what do you think of the Esher demos? What's your format?
Alef by Masada, high energy, post Ornette jazz, based on Jewish melodies.

I think this is really a record in it’s own right (and not just a bunch of unfinished songs). Great to hear also the early version of “Not Guilty”, I have only been familiar with the George Harrison solo version before.
At the moment I am only browsing this on Tidal but I already checked that my nearby record store has the 4 LP set on the self so I am planning to stop by and pick one up later.

Great selection. I bought a Japanese pressing of this and unusually the SQ isn't up to SteepleChase's normal high standards I keep meaning to buy a Danish pressing because it is a great record.
Tom Petty. Full Moon Fever. On original CD from 1989. Petty's solo debut with contributions from the Heartbreakers and The Traveling Wilburys. Quintessential classic rock with a tight, fast signature. All things good with this listen.

A friend played me some songs from this album earlier this week. A Bluesy rock band from Iceland. I ordered it as soon as i got home. Wow! This is visceral stuff. I can highly recommend it.
Flippin' hec, Mike, listening to this now on Tidal and it is a belter.
Didn't know they did the rockin' blues in Iceland!
Great shout, thanks.
My friend said he's seen some of the band perform live while on holiday in Iceland. I think this is their only album to date but they could have a promising career.
They really are very good IMHO. Still listening and just over half way through and have already picked up a copy from the river for just over a fiver - can't be bad!
So far, no duff track, no fillers, just great music.
Don't you just love the Music Room.
Definitely, Nigel. My musical tastes have expanded enormously because of the Music Room and everyone's willingness to share. Keeping Amazon very happy!

Trouble is, there is so much music posted on here, gems like Kaleo can pass you by, so always good to add a recommendation to those that are highly rated. That is why I always re-post those that I believe could get missed, and I hope that is not too annoying.
You’ve just proved your point! Saw this, having missed original post, tried on Spotify, bought from Amazon. Well done, Nigel, and thanks.
Released 2006 - Disc 2 from this fine set. ????

Started the kind of odd listening morning with Opeth. Had pre-ordered the Opeth album, but Qobuz had again a problem with the album, so I had to exchange it for another. Now I wanted to check if I really really want it, as the growling is a challenge, but as always the growling is compensated with such masterful music, that I belief I am forced to get it...
There is some discount on Qobuz for the label so I had a check...
ok, but not convincing for me...
Started listening to the album duets with Stanley Jordan, interesting with two masters on guitar. Then switched over to this one to check him out. Was pleased with what I heard...
This is also a great album, so I will get it as well...
This one I will have to hear a couple of times more. Some interesting things on it, but at the same time it is also very much banking on the black music card, and I don’t like so often the marriage of jazz and hip hop culture.
Listened to this after that. I always have secondary thoughts with him as he chooses different roads as most classical artist. However his experiments are quite often refreshing as well. While it’s not a super album, it’s still interesting enough to spin it more....
Right now listening to this. While I am a well known challenger of the forte piano. The authenticity and quality of playing of both makes it a very enjoyable listen. I appreciate Isabelle’s playing as always, while she sometimes looks for the edges of the playing...
