Oooh…one of the few Van albums I have not heard. Will put that right.
Thanks for posting Alan.
Tidal. Alison Krauss - A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection
I am again indebted to Rebecca and Bill Goldsmith of Radio Paradise for introducing me to Patty Larkin's 'Regrooving the Dream' from 2000.
She has a great voice and mines some interesting musical influences. The end of one track veers into 'Matty Groves' - another sounds like 'Sweet Jane' - Cowboy Junkies, and then she has a damn good stab at doing Michael Hedges!
A consistently enjoyable and eclectic album. Nicely produced/mastered too.
John.
Now Playing..........
Marco Pereira - Essence
Marco Pereira (guitar), Paul McCandless (oboe, bass clarinet, english horn, soprano saxophone), Natallino Neto (bass) and Marcio Bahia (drums, percussion).
Streaming........... newly acquired album from Fat Cat Records and the opening track is sounding mighty sweet! Looking forward to the rest of the album.........
...then, you had this lot setting new standards...
1967 - Uk mono pressing..
Christy Moore - On the Road, Original vinyl
My favourite album from the first half of the year. The great Irish folkie Christy, both a master songwriter and interpreter of other writer’s songs, decided to do a greatest hits by collecting recordings of his most popular numbers across gigs over 3 years, and produced this triple album. Compelling versions of great songs, sung superbly by Christy, often with lively crowd interaction, most having the great guitarist Declan Sinnott providing his usual understated lines which perfectly underpin the songs. A great intro to a master musician and a blast for people who know his work.
Tidal. Alison Moyet - Voice
Great listening evening, good jazz album...
In this album Stanley plays a bit balanced with regards to the others. He is still doing great things on guitar...
It was time to close the evening with some good old Pink Floyd...
Loving this album.

Nigel, its very laidback but with excellent musicianship, and I'm feeling so laidback that I just pressed repeat
Boomtown Rats - Ratrospective, Original US vinyl
1983 US compilation of the Rats’ greatest hits, Rat Trap, Monday’s, Joey’s on the Streets... The songs hold up well, the three big hits are songs of youth alienation, clever lyrics, well sung, good basic playing, they were a very good band. Don’t think this sold very well. I bought this from Geldof at the back of a solo gig in Vicar Street Dublin in the mid/late ‘90s and it looks like the 1983 US issue.
Tidal. Diana Panton - If The Moon Turns Green
