On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Page and Plant - No Quarter
one of a handful of CDs that arrived on Saturday -- ripped and being explored. Played last night. "Growing on me"... as they say...!
enjoy/ken
Marcus Bonfanti - Shake The Walls , modern british blues at its best.
House of Love > Audience With the Mind (NAS 16/44.1 AIFF)
Jimmy Smith - Plays Fats Waller, does what it says on the tin.
also recently purchased, ripped and now playing -- very promising indeed...

"The last of the pianoless quartet albums that Gerry Mulligan recorded in the 1950s is one of the best, featuring the complementary trumpet of Art Farmer, bassist Bill Crow, and drummer Dave Baileyalong with the baritonist/leader. This recording is a little skimpy on playing time but makes every moment count."(allMusic)

CD, 2015.
CD, 2017.
Yes. 90125. On original vinyl from 1983. Because it's my favorite Yes album and among the best LPs in my collection for SQ, sound staging, and imaging.
Steve Winwood. Back In The High Life. On DMM vinyl from 1986. Because it's my favorite Winwood album and the SQ is superb. The DMM mastering is especially quiet and it's nice not to hear that subtle pre-echo.
The Beatles. Rubber Soul (1965). On MFSL vinyl from "The Collection" box set (1982). The lads' transitional album from a pop phenomenon to profoundly influential artists. Probably the band's strongest driving harmonies as well. Quite a progressive album in retrospect.
The Best Of The Spencer Davis Group. The 15-track 1998 compilation distilled to 10 songs from Capitol Records in 2005. Love the music, SQ a bit edgy.
Any recommendations for a good sounding CD or LP compilation? Maybe the band was mastered for AM radio and I'm simply hearing their signature sound?
11/11/2018, several of the Rememberance Services. I think the reason is obvious. Rich
My new Tord Gustavsen Trio record - The Other Side
Really growing on me. Not used to playing vinyl at this time in the morning. Sounds great with the day awakening.
