On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Great album, voice combined with musicians in the background...
Playing on Compact Disc on Naxos - Very nice Vivaldi Violin Concertos to get the working week going and lift the Monday morning blues
Great, if rather forgotten British tenor player with an American rhyme section including Horace Parlan.
On the original vinyl. One of the most memorable groups I heard perform in the mid 80's
Followed up with this one, which is sounding a level more mature...
Playing on Cassette on TDK AD - X C60 - Lovely Jethro Tull from 1977
Capercaillie
Delirium - CD Rip
Bought in a charity shop, brilliant celtic music, on the river looking at their back catalogue.
Edward
Seem to be in the women voices today, beautiful.....
Playing on Compact Disc - Fabulous from Amy
Capercaillie
The Blood Is Strong - Tidal HiFi
Sublime.
Edward
Continuing the journey...
Blue Note trip - Sunset / Sunrise
Cd rip - enjoyed this a.m.

WOW. I used to have some great fun with this album played on vinyl from my Rega P3 2000 feeding my olive slimline 'active' set into Credo speakers back in the day!
Great choice there Jeroen20
This takes me back to my 'practicing' Break Dancing days of 1981.
Sounds excellent with plenty of left & right speaker stuff going on.
Don't forget to moonwalk on the way out!
I had the instrumental 12" version of the track - Running - from this album back in the electro days of 1986/7. Indeed, the vocal version was on the 'B' side, which is on this album. Long gone are the days when I used to get on a tube and go up West and pop into Greek records to spend everything I earned on music. I used to spend many of whole Saturday in that place checking out all the latest imports, fresh off the plane!
*sigh*
Playing on Compact Disc - Haven't played this for years and really enjoying the acoustic versions. On a Plain is really good - Classic unplugged album
Getting a bit our of the women voices, something heavier and a great testament for Chester...
Now moved to this nice lyrical trio album, recommended...
Recorded in Brooklyn, February 2016 on Whirlwind Recordings
Rez Abbasi – guitar
Rudresh Mahanthappa, alto sax
Vijay Iyer, piano
Johannes Weidenmueller, bass
Dan Weiss, drums
Elizabeth Mikhael, cello
Now playing...........
Abbey Lincoln - Wholly Earth
Abbey Lincoln (vocals), Bobby Hutchinson (vibes and marimba), Marc Cary (piano), John Ormond (bass), Alvester Garnett (drums), Guests: Nicholas Payton (trumpet [4], flugelhorn [8]), James Hurt (piano [1, 9]), Michael Bowie (bass [1, 9]), Daniel Moreno (percussion [1, 3, 5, 6, 9]), and Maggie Brown (vocals [1, 9]).
Streaming on NAS........ a recent purchase and kicking off this sunny, blue sky, cold morning with Abbey and she is sounding might fine.....
Only my second listen to this album. It's pretty clear to me that Natalie Merchant is another artist I've discovered via this thread that I'm to very much like.
Time to dive into the White Album 50th Super Deluxe. First off, Giles Martin's 2018 mix in 24/96 from the Blu-ray. I really like this - better (on first listen anyway, and I'm about halfway through what was the old side two) than the '68 stereo version; everything seems clearer, with more atmosphere. The bass and drums in particular sound less congested, with more welly. Thumbs up from me.
