On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
MDS posted:Only my second listen to this album. It's pretty clear to me that Natalie Merchant is another artist I've discovered via this thread that I'm to very much like.
Lots to enjoy, I would suggest 'Motherland' and 'Ophelia' as two good places to go next. In general her output is pretty consistent although The House Carpenter's Daughter is more acoustic/folky and a bit different. I also like the 10,000 Maniacs albums In My Tribe, Blind Man's Zoo and Our Time in Eden (the band with whom she made her name), the first of which was the first album I bought on CD!
Those were the days.

Just managed to buy both Motherland and Ophelia on CD for just over £6 for the pair. Result!
Again another direction in my listening journey for today...
Now enjoying some restful and gentle Lisa Hannigan.
(2001)
Motherland
Joining the love in for Natalie Merchant...
This fantastic sounding CD from 1987.
Now playing........
Lisa Hannigan - At Swim
Streaming on NAS.......... A recent purchase and going with the mention from MDS above to take Lisa out for a spin..........
Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland 50th Anniversary box set.
Arrived today and judging by side 1 Voodoo Chile I have a far out evening ahead listening to the full set.
Based on side 1, so far, they have done a great job on this vinyl.
VC at volume was probably the closest I will get to being in the studio with Jimi, Steve et.al.
Richard
On to CD three of this set, and the Esher demos. Had these for years on bootleg, but never in this superb quality. Fantastic.
Dougie MacLean
Indigenous - CD Rip

Blue Matter
Lovely swampy British blues rock from Savoy Brown always hits the spot.
Double vinyl released 2011 - pop-inspired concept album infused with modern jazz and neo-soul, featuring special guest vocalists Cassandra Wilson, Esperanza Spalding, N dambi, Chinah Blac, and Saunders Sermons! Grammy Winner Nicholas Payton plays every instrument, composed all the songs, wrote all the lyrics, produced each track, and sings and plays trumpet throughout this record. ????

Oh, I have Too Far To Whisper on vinyl, I played it a lot for a few years, but probably haven’t played it for more than 20 years, must put it on the player soon. Thanks for the memory-jog.

Delirium - CD Rip
Bought in a charity shop, brilliant celtic music, on the river looking at their back catalogue.

Another memory jogger, I saw them at Cropredy and Cambridge festivals in the ‘80s, and a couple of gigs as well. They were great live. Just checked and I haven’t any of their albums, must remedy that.
Colin James - Miles To Go
A rather fine blues album. Neat guitar work and nice vocals, tight band too.
Stanley Cowell - Live at Maybeck
Wovenchord - Every Thought Every Word - WAV bandcamp download
Daniel Day is a talented local multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Wovenchord is Daniel with his sister Katie, a fine singer and guitarist in her own right. Lovely folk songs, beautifully played and sung.
I ordered this from Bandcamp today, expecting the CD to arrive a few days later, so downloaded the WAV. I was surprised a few hours later to have a ring on the doorbell, open the door to find Daniel’s wife outside handing me the CD and a note from him.
Vinyl released 1970 - Fine debut album from EC and a fine lineup as well. ????
Eric Clapton – lead guitar, lead vocals
Delaney Bramlett – rhythm guitar, backing vocals
Stephen Stills – guitar, backing vocals
Leon Russell – piano
Bobby Whitlock – organ, backing vocals
John Simon – piano
Carl Radle – bass guitar

Jim Price – trumpet
Bobby Keys – saxophone
Tex Johnson – percussion
Bonnie Bramlett – backing vocals

Staying true to my eighties roots with this classic which is another "Hovis" LP - still sounds as good today as it always did.
Jan Hammer - Escape from television.
Music from the Miami Vice tv series.
