On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Confessin’ the Blues - Compilation, WAV CD rip
1st listen through CD 1 of this compilation of the greatest bluesmen, I have a lot of these recordings already, but this is a superbly chosen run through the blooz, so well worth the punt. SQ excellent given the original recordings, and all of these guys could play and sing with complete soul, it’s awesome. Tracks chosen by the Stones.
Original vinyl
Why? Heard How Long whilst browsing a charity shop at lunchtime and thought I'll play that when I get home. And it's a minor classic too.

Only my second listen to this album. It's pretty clear to me that Natalie Merchant is another artist I've discovered via this thread that I'm to very much like.
Lots to enjoy, I would suggest 'Motherland' and 'Ophelia' as two good places to go next. In general her output is pretty consistent although The House Carpenter's Daughter is more acoustic/folky and a bit different. I also like the 10,000 Maniacs albums In My Tribe, Blind Man's Zoo and Our Time in Eden (the band with whom she made her name), the first of which was the first album I bought on CD!
Those were the days.
Bruce
Many thanks for those tips, Bruce. I'll explore them.

Remember the download of Tigerlily is different mix than the cd.
Elton John - Don't Shoot Me ,I'm Only The Piano Player, one of the best from Reg
Feel in the mood for this today after the shit one I had.

Hope things got better.

Will Hoge - Small Town Dreams - WAV CD rip
1st play of another new to me album by Will Hoge, and it’s another belter. Great country rock songs of Americana, as the title suggests tales of being someone from small town America. Great songs, he sings and plays superbly, this album rocks and has soul.
Mark Knopfler
A Shot at Glory - CD Rip

Original vinyl released 1971 - This old geezer is on a roll at the moment. Still love his debut album though... hippy dream ????
Cd rip - just realised I have had this for ages & never listened to it
Nice ! - Good recording too
Simply Red - A New Flame, from '89 and the original lineup. Blue-eyed soul.
NIce Post Rock, however don’t listen to it for hours at a stretch. You then might feel like some variation is needed...
Quite long ago that I listened to this one, still a great album...
10 x CD boxset - Wagram Electronic 2007 : )
Saint-Germain Des-Prés Café Paris
My CDS3 player is loving these nu-jazz sounds,
and i'm really enjoying them all too
so far up to CD number 4 from this fab set : )
I bought this having loved an album of Ambrose Field with John Potter on ECM. I like a huge range of music but this is seriously challenging, even for me.
One of the best concerts I ever had was years ago with Coldplay. They are made for the podium, so listening to a concert album always adds a special dimension....
In my view, Gabriel's finest solo album. A host of excellent songs.
Joan Baez - 75th birthday celebration, WAV CD rip
I had a quick look at the TV last night to kill 20 minutes before an early night, and Joan Baez Live was on Sky Arts. Turned out to be her 75th birthday concert, and in that 20 minutes I saw her duet on Blackbird with Cros and on Hard Times (come again no more) with Emmylou, and had ordered the DVD/2 CD set. Her voice is amazing for a 75 year old, simple acoustic backing on great folk songs, and a lot of master musicians joining for a song or 2.

Agree it’s certainly one of the best Mike and probably the one I play most myself. It was one of those albums that drove me to want to buy a new LP12 this year as digital versions just never properly convinced me. I like all his output save perhaps PG2, but this one is particularly fine.
